When asked at tonight's presser, who would be called up to replace the newly absent players, Mumbles mentioned that he was going to meet Gorton about it after the presser. He also said that he met with Gorton prior to tonight's game for the personnel moves that applied tonight.

There may not be any major moves happening yet but Gorton is definitely active behind the scenes, even if he's just communicating with a concierge.
dom the janitor?

The season was over the moment Bergevin failed to upgrade the mobility of our defence this past off season. Not to be too pessimistic, but the nadir we are suffering will last at least 2 more years. So get use to the frustration of supporting a team in full re-build mode. There is no other choice as there is no quick fix. None at all.

Oh yea, the team was bad right out of camp when they had almost all of their regulars. So that was apparent right out of the gate. And I'm good with two years of this if it means they're officially rebuilding.

However, it is still pretty ridiculous how many of those regulars are hit by the injury bug or covid protocol.

Right now, Habs only have 4 players who have played 400 or more games (Gallagher, Drouin, Savard & Paquette). The closest one to them is Kulak and he hasn't played 300 games yet. From the four with 400 games or more, one of them wasn't in the line-up and another one got hurt and didn't return. It's like every guy they have with significant NHL experience goes down.

Not counting Weber, the Habs have a total of 6,103 NHL games of experience out of the line-up.

And after tonight, the amount of NHL games of experience in the line-up: 2,590 (and 1,982 of those were from Gallagher, Paquette, Savard & Kulak). The other 17 players in the line-up tonight combined for 608 NHL games of experience (and only Suzuki has played over 100 games among them).

I would argue it's easier to evaluate when the team sucks than when things are going well.
I get what you’re saying. You want to see the guys that try harder when the going gets tough. But I don’t think this situation counts as tough. This is just pure hopelessness. Imagine your suzuki. You just came off the high of a Stanley cup final. You and your team had a short summer to recoup. You’re aspiring to be a top center and then the biggest pieces of your team drop. Your coach is terrible and the team has stopped listening to him. Everyone around you drops like flies. Your teammates keep changing and no one knows the system. Even if you try your hardest to score you can’t do it by yourself. Your near last in the league getting a multi goal beating nearly every game. Your coach is checked out and makes escuses all the time. Your boss is MIA. You have no idea what the management wants (win or tank). No one around you seems to care anymore.

Just imagine, when things start going slightly wrong for the Canes, Rod Brind'Amour goes into the room and says ''I'm Rod f***ing Brind'Amour, be better.''

We got mumbles mcgee.

This guy is now just milking the Montreal Canadiens for what he has to figure will be his last NHL pay cheques.

this is spot on. it's been a perfect shit-storm; starting early with Carey and Shea's status, no Corey, Staal etc for leadership, Bergevin's inability to improve D whatsoever, the fiasco at C with letting Danault and KK walk for nothing, resigning mumbles for 3 freakin' years, mailloux and on and on

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
im still baffled of some posts in ths thread
we are missing x players thats why we are that bad.

Yet the same roster who had an Allen playing like a regular season price and just missing Price Edmundson and (Hoffman who anyways is useless)
Was getting absolutely destroyed and was rolled by Seattle and Buffalo.

They are some veterans with mysterious injuries who are completely unknown. At one point you wonder if the players are just dodging to play games.

Full roster or not , this team suck in every aspects. The veterans are bad and the prospects are not that good at all , none of them can shine or do anything right.

The games against Arizona will probably be the battle of this season.
Carolina was no different from other games tonight , the only difference with Tampa is that they did not ice a #6 goalie in Lagacé that got completely hammered tonight.

They're still listening to him, which is why they're so bad as a 5-player structure.

You're right about the "no one knows how to play the system" though....

Agreed that they sucked since the start even if they had regulars.

But it is still pretty ridiculous that it's the regulars that are falling like trees one after another.
