Then it would make sense why people in Toronto would hate him. Why did the rest of them dislike Kessel?

Leaf fans rightly said that he was better than guys like Pacioretty, Duchene, Evander Kane, Voracek, Neal etc and people thought Kessel was a one dimensional player who only padded stats on a bad team.

Kessel is a stand up guy on and off the ice. Elite playmaker and goalscorer. Kessel is actually a better playmaker than he is a goalscorer.

It feels nice that the rest of HFBoards knows what us Leaf fans have known for a while.

Kessel is a character. Really like how the Pens have marketed the funny side/likability of him. That has helped us understand him a bit more. And he has 2 Cups. Great for him.

People say lots of things, maybe he's a 60-70 point player. Maybe he's elite point/game player. But I think his hate is being overstated - see all star getting picked last. That endeared him to lot of people.

I can only speak for what I've seen. Can't really comment on things like Neal/EKane > Kessel or this hate on him personally.

You don't think it was planned in advance to pick Kessel last? Come on when Eric Staal said how Toronto was not a "Hockey market" you knew the fix was in to make Kessel and Leafs fans look bad.
