You're right, there's no excuse for this. Kadri should be banned for life.

Seriously though, I'm sure you've never been late for anything, anytime, ever, in your entire life, right?

Amazing how seriously some people take themselves here. :amazed:

Nobody is saying that it is a huge sin or anything. He was disciplined appropriately by sitting a game. Life goes on, and hopefully he won't be late again. People that are saying the he shouldn't have been disciplined at all are the ones that are wrong.

That's your opinion. But at the end of the day what does this have to do with Kadri being late for a team meeting on professionalism where Horachek's was dressing down the team. Tone deaf was an apt description.

Maybe so but "lesson learned" is all that needed to be achieved here. I think it had its desired effect.

This is true but would he have been sat if they were 1 or 2 points out of a playoff spot, or just fined?

IMO MacKenzie is just feeding off the toxicity of the situation. First time offenses are just that. As long as they are not repeated they are easy to move past.

Bob was waiting for his chance to attack Kadri.....he dislikes him since Kadri called him out on his poor reporting about his contract demands.

Bob is a baby!

He is the one flaming the flames and quoting him in this thread is a joke!

It was handled poorly by a franchise that has shown its self to be anything but professional. Why in the hell was Phil not discipline in the same manner for his conduct towards the media. It is time that everyone starts acting in a professional manner and we may see some changes.

It has been suggested that this is an issue in the Leafs room and that Kadri is the one they have chosen to make an example of....or that the coach has had it with the unprofessional attitude...

Kadri was late and he deserves his punishment.....

Of course he should have been disciplined and he was. I was responding to this:

"But the excuses made for this boy on these boards are borderline sickening."

which is pretty sicking in itself. I have zero doubt that if we were to examine this posters posting history, we would see a person who has an intense dislike for Kadri.

We will see about that. It's not like Kadri is a 18 year old rookie anymore. We will see.

That's the key point, as a 7 pick you'd think by 24 he'd be coming into his own. Instead, I've seen little to no progress in effort, skill, attitude and performance level. Oh he talks a great game, but he doesn't produce. 36 pts? Trade him while there still is a perception that he can be a good player. He's part of the malaise that permeates this core.

They shutdown Polak for the season too. Maybe if he showed up to practice on time and they felt he had better character they would've kept him around until the end of the season.

Clearly they don't want the team affected by players like Franson, Polak and Kadri.

If anything, what Franson and Polak did was significantly worse than what Kadri did.

Franson and Polak made a conscious decision to stay in their car, not call a cab, and arrive late for practice. They were two adults, with enough resources to make the decision to arrive on time for practice, but instead valued the well-being of their car over their commitment to practice.

Kadri arrived late due to unconsciously allowing time to get away from him, as he was sleeping. Daylight Savings Time has a documented negative effect on sleep patterns which "disturb sleep patterns, and make people restless at night, which results in sleepiness the next day"(link). DST is linked to increases in car accidents and heart attacks.

So whereas Kadri was, unconsciously, affected by a human phenomenon, Franson and Polak made a very poor decision and did so purposefully.

Whereas Kadri apologized publicly and took ownership of his inability to arrive early, Franson and Polak laughed off their discretion.

Also Franson (27) and Polak (28) are both older than Kadri (24), they should know better as they aren't rookies anymore.

In the end, if they had better character they would've made it on time. End of story.

To be fair, it is not a global phenomenon as it occurs in an entirely different month in Australia.

You're right. It occurs on different months in different countries but I believe the health effects are consistent on the next few days after the time change. Either way, I'll edit and remove calling it a "global" phenomenon.

What about the comment from Horachek regarding Kadri's past? This is not the first time Kadri has had "issues." Kadri's supporters must be calling Horachek a liar.. and thus should be sued for defamation, right?

He said Kadri "has had issues"?

This would not fit the it only happened once refrain, or it wasn't an important meeting, or its everyone's elses fault narrative. As far as I can gather from reading this thread.

People really need to start listening to interviews and to start holding the player more accountable for his own actions.

Why aren't people listening to interviews and making up quotes like "he has issues" and getting upset by the things they made up?

It really is baffling.

It wasn't meant to be a direct quote.. Go back and listen and tell me if you have a different interpretation.. I doubt you do.
