Even if Dubas wanted to sign Thornton and let's say it was for $700,000 I think it would be a repeat of how Patrick Marleau played in his final year in Toronto.

I'd happily take Perry at league minimum, but probably not for Thornton. After Marleau I don't really want that San Jose culture influencing Toronto any more than it already has. Not the end of the world if it happens, but I'm not a fan.

I would take him for the $2.5M cap savings alone. The #3c is a 12 minute a night gig. You don't put a $3.5M player there and you don't spend $3.5M on Kerfoot. If not him then some other guy at south of $1.5M but they need to make a change.

Joe on a 700k/1yr deal is much different than Marleau making 6 million a year here.
