Bolded is what he will be. Probably will fill in when Kaleta is inevitably injured and play 4-5 minutes while a better forward gets double shifted to cover the other minutes the 4th line plays (Stafford or Tropp maybe). There's no way he sees time playing D unless we get to that point in injuries where our options are either putting him in or calling up Finley. Sulzer, McNabb, Pardy, Brennan, and Pysyk are all better depth options than he is.

The guy is signed to beat up Lucic, and anyone who tries to stop him from doing so. If there is no season I guess Ruff will have to send him to the Lucic residens to get it done.

On a side note: I was playing some NHL 13 at home, and in a game against Phoenix John Scott scored my first goal, and then assisted Steve Ott (second assist from Kaleta) with a behind-the-back pass to my second. NOW DO YOU BELIEVE!?

I didn't think of this, but very much agree. This season is going to be very much a sprint. It will benefit younger, faster skaters.

I'm not advocating for playing Scott, but he and Kaleta are in a completely different class of fighter. Lucic would smoke Kaleta, there's just too much of a size difference.

I agree with that but Kaleta WILL fight Chara, and essentially that's all you need to do. Kaleta even if he loses will show boat enough to get his team and the crowd fired up, the actual result of the fight doesn't actually matter that much.

I can see no one understand the importance of having a permanent doorman. A poorly executed opening or closing could adversely affect play, which is something the Sabres have been sorely lacking since the departure of Andrew Peters.

Scott is a specialist who is very good at his specialty. This isn't Andrew Peters post Andro who didn't really engage when he did agree to fight. This is a huge man that will win the overwhelming majority of his fights. THAT will do much more to swing momentum than watching Kaleta get broken in half by Chara.

It also takes away the job of handling the Thorntons and Prusts of the division from a beat up McCormick and our smaller fighters (Ott and Kaleta).

Where did I say he would get more ice time? More guys will be injured in a compressed season so its more likely he will dress.


Also a 48 game season IS NOT the playoffs. Not even close.

Seems reasonable to expect more (prorated) injuries in a compressed season. First, many guys will not be in as good of shape as they're used to, which will lead to injuries. Second, less rest between games absolutely does lead to an increase in risk.

Games every other day plus I think everyone is expecting a "playoff type" effort level every night. Guys get beat up doing that night in night out. Kaleta at full speed lasts about 10 games before he's hurt and Tropp is already out long term.

I think some people may be forgetting that the other teams in our division and conference all added muscle and this was Darcy's reaction to that. He will get as someone else mentioned I believe four, five minutes until it is shown he just can't play. Or maybe the refs are in crackdown mode and he isn't needed.
Otherwise he was brought in here to prevent the Lukic crap from happening again and to back up the addition of Ott who along with Kaleta is likely to get some teams riled up. Hopefully
