Chayka is active (which is partially why he's popular) but at some point we can't rely upon trades to improve. We need development, above average drafting, and hopefully a bit of luck in the draft lottery.

I am a Montreal fan but came to check for the Galchenyuk/Kessel trade.

It's cool to see the list of moves/trades all in one place and from what I scanned Chayka got one significant bad move under his belt and its the Galchenyuk vs Domi trade. Which imo he just saved by trading for Kessel.

You're right about drafting and development but I guess the Coyotes will see the results from those in still a few years as its still very early. However Keller and Chychrun looks like great picks in 2016 with only 5 draftees.

42 trades in 39 months on the job. Wow.
And I don't think that is counting any draft-pick-only trades

24 June 2017 - Acquires 2017 2nd round pick (Filip Westerlund), 2017 3rd round pick (Nate Schnarr), and a 2017 4th round pick (Noel Hoefenmayer) in exchange for 2017 2nd round pick (Isaac Ratcliffe)

24 June 2017 - Acquires 2017 3rd round pick (Cameron Crotty), and a 2017 5th round pick (Michael Karow) in exchange for 2017 3rd round pick (Stuart Skinner)

23 June 2018 - Acquires 2018 3rd round pick (Linus Karlsson), and a 2018 5th round pick (Michael Callahan) in exchange for 2018 3rd round pick (Niklas Nordgren)

23 June 2018 - Acquires 2018 4th round pick (Ivan Prosvetov), and a 2018 5th round pick (Dennis Busby) in exchange for 2018 3rd round pick (Linus Karlsson)

21 June 2019 - Acquires 2019 1st round pick (Victor Soderstrom) in exchange for 2019 1st round pick (Cam York) and a 2019 2nd round pick (Egor Afanasyev)

22 June 2019 - Acquires 2019 4th round pick (Matias Maccelli), a 2019 5th round pick (Aku Raty) and a 2019 7th round pick (Valentin Nussbaumer) in exchange for 2019 3rd round pick (Nathan Legare)

You're right. I dont include any draft pick trades that don't involve a player due to this potentially turning into a cluttered mess

Updated. Man i remember adding the Maxim Letunov deal to this list as one of his first trades. Thought he was going to be just making minor adjustments here and there. Thought it was a bad trade.

Turns out i was wrong on all counts

The season has just started and the team is looking pretty sharp so far. BUT the goals haven't been plentiful and we're currently below .500.

Strome as a 1C is outscoring Schmaltz and is 1 year younger

Domi as a 2C is outscoring Kessel and is 8 years younger

Necas is outscoring Stepan and is 9 years younger

These are the trades that I railed against when they happened and these are the trades that will define Chayka's tenure as GM.

Necas has nothing to do with the Stepan trade. We got Raanta and Stepan for DeAngelo and Lias Andersson

Lias Anderson was a reach. Only the Rangers had him as BPA. Necas was BPA using my list. Others had Vilardi as BPA.

Caught a few seconds of Oilers Chicago game last night. Strome had the puck on the PP and dished it off and was skating to net front and I swear to god I’ve seen six year old kids with better technique. He doesn’t move his feet.

It was for #7, not Andersson. I wanted Vilardi. He's just taking Necas. Missed opportunity for sure, regardless. The trade isn't aging well at all, and it was questionable to begin with, imo.

Chayka has visited St.Petersburg, Russia couple of days ago, met Savunov and likely was looking for potential UFAs for the next offseason.

Agent for Liam Kirk, Grigorenko, Namestnikov, Kaprizov among many others

Kirk and Maccelli will be signed, would be a nice reward for Kirk after his strong start.

I think he was also Savunov's agent. and, since Chayka was in St.Petersburg, probably Artyom Zub and Alexander Barabanovshould be mentioned as they are also his clients.
