Great signing.I like watching him keep the puck away from the opposition for minutes at a time.If he had more of a scoring touch he could be a 25 goal guy easily.

As I was expecting. Re-signed before his hearing with the arbitrator.

Next: Lehkonen.... Unless they trade him.

Armia is an easy player to cheer for. Sure, wish he could capitalize on more of his chances, but I have no problem with this deal.

Great deal. Would have given him $3M without batting an eye. Fantastic 200 foot player.

Flexibility in the sense we have nothing to worry about as far as losing a great player

More than that.

Players become available at an expansion draft that normally aren't. Montreal's not in the same position as Seattle, but it sets the table for Montreal to make moves to get players. Ideally, if draft exempt guys like Poehling, Suzuki and Brook can establish themselves in the next couple of seasons (maybe Caufield too), Montreal would have a ton of flexibility to get some good pieces at reduced prices.

Interesting to note that since his contract expires when the expansion draft happens, he wont be picked by seattle and will not need to be protected

Good point. It's likely intentional, if both parties are interested Armia can resign with Montreal after the expansion draft, and we don't have to use a space to protect him.

yes, with 23 players, 2 g, 8 d 13 f. capfriendly has Varone listed on the roster so I took out that 700K and then the 1,075,000 saved 3 times for Weise, Alzner and Peca then added in Juulsen and Poehling's cap hit so the number is just close to where we will be depending on how the roster ends up.

I don't really see the point of keeping 8 D though as having just 1 spare forward is not a good idea imo, so I'm wondering if someone gets traded once they see Juulsen is at 100% if that's the case as he may need time in Laval to get back on track.

Don't they also have Lindgren's 750k listed?
