Interesting - I like the signing, if he truly signed. Has potential - might require a few years of nurturing, but not a bad player to take a longer-term flyer on.

AFAIK, signing him is the same as drafting him...ie he cannot play in AHL until 20 years old or 4 years of CHL hockey. So it would not be until 2015-16 that he will be eligible for AHL play. I will confirm.

I think he means that after junior he'll start his pro career in St. John's.

Possibly. It's a bit hard without hearing how he says it. He says that the idea probably is to let him start out in the farm team, but he doesn't make it clear if that's after juniors or right now.

Hope this is true, he showed some nice tools in the rookie tournament. Wouldn't mind at all adding a project type prospect like Blomqvist. As others have said, after his showing, there really wasn't any reason not to sign him. Let's see how this plays out.
