If not Appleton moving up, then who? Jets don't have the depth on the bottom 6 to be moving anyone up to the top line. And please don't say Lambert.

Third line contributes absolutely nothing, time to shake up the lines................no Wheeler you still can't play on the top line
Wheeler to the 4th line with Lowry & Fialby-Jonsson and Gagner to the 3rd line with Bus & Barron, and Maenalanen with Dubois and Apples on the 2nd line. Then put Perfetti with Connor and Scheifele on the top-line, until Ehlers is back. Wheeler is trying hard but is a 1/2 second to a whole second behind plays and fumbles the puck like it is a grenade these days. He and "cement-hands Lowry" could compliment each other in " missed finishing opportunities".
My opinion (eye test) sees Wheeler as a poor option for top-6 minutes and opportunities.

If Mathews doesn't wake up that Leafs team ain't scaring any of the contenders
Kind of sad that "face-shield battered Marner" could roll over us even without Matthews firing on all cylinders. You think we could outgun them when Matthews is struggling. Lots of sloppy, lost play by many Jets in this one. I saw Wheeler killed too many offensive chances by "old-man-itis" affected fumbling of the puck in scoring and high-danger offense zone plays. Failing to shoot when opportunity there. Missing a pass on his stick in good position for a shot. Fumbling an interupted pass instead of controlling it and turning the play around against the Leafs. Noticed Connor off the mark too often and Perfetti struggled to advance succeßfully. Jets really needed Ehlers taking the puck for 40 second long circles around different zones of the ice. Hopefully having worn out the defenders and opening a scorer (Connor or Scheif) up for better chances. Maybe down the road...there is hope, in wishfully thinking.

Ugh….that is all….. refs can remove their Leafs jerseys now.
Why would they though? It's a nice disguise and they have the Lor of 10 million Leaf fans! 10,000 of them were at the game, from the sounds of it. Playing like that for 20 more games and fans will be wearing Buffalo Sabres jerseys for crying out loud! Or Arizona Coyote jersies. What is Chevy planning to do if this happens? Quit like Maurice? Hope so. But that's all negative interjecture of p ossible bad outcomes. Winning 2 of 5 games all along will keep Chevy in the favor of ownership and ensure another extension in 2 or 3 years of failure. Keeping it positive!:huh::help::huh::huh:

The Copp effect was visible for years, every time Copp was taken off Lowry's line for any reason.

Lowry did come to life late last season. I'm not sure who his linemates would have been then but I think it was after Copp was gone. If he could put together a complete season like that he would be a legit 3C.
It’s true but whenever Copp was taken off that line he was replaced with a 4th line or press box player.

One team liquidated a bunch of their valuable assets and is blatantly tanking. Another doubled down and is committed to winning.

Early but isn’t it something..

Not really, it’s almost like the Jets have played better teams.

Chicago has played one team that made the playoffs last year, basically the exact opposite as the Jets, the teams Chicago have played of a combined goal differential of +3, where the Jets teams have a combined goal differential of +24.

Chicago's wins were against San Jose and Detroit at the time of this post. They subsequently beat the Kraken. Losses to Colorado and Vegas.

Jets losses versus Dallas, Vegas, Toronto, while beating Colorado and New York.

So I don't think much can be taken from this. Small sample size, early in the season, and VERY difficult difficulty of schedule.

If we look at our centre depth. Lowry is where he should be no?

Now last year with Stastny here you could have pushed him down.

We don't have the depth to push him down.
