Maybe some more hockey talk to pass the time. I’m curious about the Jets projected opening day lineup for next season (and the after if you would like). I’ll kick it off:

Ehlers Scheif Laine
Connor Little Wheeler
Copp Lowry Perreault
Harkins Roslovic Appleton

Morrissey Demelo
Samberg Pionk
Niku Poolman

Helly
Brossoit

A few notes. Extra D could be Beaulieu. Extra forward could be Shore. First recalls Vesalainen, Seuss and Kovacevic. I see Kves finishing season on the roster and Stanley getting a few games.
Heinola is the unknown also unknown is if Chevy will add a UFA Dman, who do you like? Hamonic?

If the thread takes off we can add salaries and projected cap space going forward to project signings.
2021-22 gets interesting with more RFAs and UFAs and expansion draft. I’ll post my projected lineup for that year later.

Thoughts?

Is it wishful thinking line-up like this one? Or likely? There is very little chance both Connor and wheeler start on 2nd line.

Post both. We have time to kill. I’d rather do it talking hockey so I’d love to see both your options!
I think that line would do well and would balance out ice time better.

Nice! We trade Perreault? I do think he will get dealt at the deadline when Kves arrives as he will look good with Lowry Copp.

If the cap increases, we could keep him, but if not, he’s gotta go. Vesa should be able to replace him either late into this upcoming season or the season after.

Seems like you're all really interested in this right now :sarcasm:
Let's try the 2021-2022 season as there is much more up in the air for that year. Here are my thoughts:

Connor Scheif Laine
Ehlers UFA Wheeler
Vesalainen Little Roslovic
Copp Gus Appleton
Suess

Morrissey Pionk
Heinola Demelo
Samberg Kovacevic
Niku

Helly
Berdin

It's quite evident that our roster continues to have to give young players a chance unless Chevy signs some players. I think his biggest task is to find a #2 centre that can play with our talented wingers in the top six. I like where our D's are headed going forward but he can also find a veteran there if he would like more experience. In this scenario I have Perreault and Lowry leaving as UFA's. Harkins (or Roslovic) getting selected in the expansion draft. Kovacevic will be 24 so we will know if he's ready or not. We also have Stanley, Gawanke, Chisholm that will be working hard to crack the lineup, if one of them can become a good NHLer then we are looking good on the back end. Niku is likely to be moved. I think this is the year that we could really do some damage if Chevy can add to the group. It could be a season to do that as Little and Wheeler will be getting older so he may go all in in the 2020-21 or 2021-22 seasons. Im excited about watching the group above. We have a lot in the cupboard on D, a little thin on forward as our prospects age out. Hope for a lottery pick and draft Byfield, problem solved :naughty:

That’s what I thought. Something to talk about. I was thinking this or looking over our top 20 prospects and discussing changes but thought roster discussions could be interesting especially for the 2021-22 season.
What you think for that season?

Good question:

Biggest thing we need this summer is a second line center.

I deal our first provided it's not a lottery pick, Vesalinen and Roslovic for Cerelli.

Sign Brossoit to another two year 1 million per deal to act as a goalie to expose.

I also bring back DeMelo if he's willing

I sign Kulikov to a two year reduced deal to act as a foil for Samberg not being quite ready for a top 4 role as well as a player to expose in the expansion draft.

Connor Scheifele Laine
Ehlers Cirelli Wheeler
Copp Lowry Little
Perrault Harkins Appelton
Depth forward

Morrissey DeMelo
Kuli/Samberg Pionk
Kuli/Samberg Poolman
Dalstrom Niku

Helle
Brossoit

I'll post a cap projection later.

OK, 2nd thought, give up on Niku.

I think Maurice has recommitted to CSW. That may change part way into the season to CSL, but it will be CSW to start, so this is what I think is likely for '21:

Connor - Scheifele -Wheeler
Ehlers - Little - Laine
Copp - Lowry - Perreault
Harkins - Roslovic - Appleton
Shaw - or anybody

2C is a problem in more ways than one. Fixing it, and predicting it. Could be Little, could be Eakin, could be a trade return (Cirelli), or someone else altogether. I'm going to assume that Eakin moves on and that Little at least tries to come back. He might only last until he takes his first big hit, or maybe until he gets hurt again, IDK. He may be as good as new and make us forget there was ever a problem.

Morrissey - DeMelo
Samberg - Pionk
Sbisa - Poolman
Beaulieu - or anybody

Not much to talk about there if both DeMelo and Samberg sign. Different story if either or both do not.
Sbisa over Beaulieu 11 times out of 10, but both will play, and probably near equally, with injuries.

What I would prefer to see:

Ehlers - Cirelli - Laine
Connor - Scheifele - Wheeler
Harkins - Roslovic - Appleton/Little
Copp - Lowry - Perreault/Appleton

Morrissey - DeMelo
Samberg - Pionk
Sbisa - Kovacevic
Poolman

Forward lines based on; whichever line Laine is on is the 1st line. ECL would be a much better 2 way line as well as a better scoring line. Maurice would eventually have to start giving them more TOI. No, I am not saying that Cirelli is better offensively than Scheifele. But with those wingers, he would score very well. Besides, it is the only way I can get Ehlers and Laine onto the 1st line and this is my fantasy.

If Little is in and Cirelli is acquired, Perreault has to go. Could be bought out. Whatever, gone.

I'm hoping that Kovacevic will take a step up in TC and push Poolman down. Nothing against 3rd pair Poolman. I just hope for better.

Since we are 20th overall in points per game we don't make playoffs and win lottery so Lafreniere is second line
If all things line up for us we will be getting a good player. Just need Askarov to get drafted ahead of us and one team to reach so to speak and we can get a top 10 player. If Perfetti or Lundell fall to us I’d be thrilled!

I think Sbisa is better than Kuli - despite Kuli's good play recently. It might be pretty close but I think Sbisa gets about 1 mil and Kuli about 1.5. That makes Sbisa better bang for the buck. Could keep both.

Otherwise I like it.

After crunching the numbers the team might actually have to cut some corners on some positions especially if the cap remains flat. We likely have to bring back Sbisa over Kuli and we likely can't afford Brossoit.

Comrie of a backup goalie at an equivalent salary will be needed.

Given Cirelli has yet to really have a 50 plus point season I think 5.5 million should get it done for a long term deal.

Buy out Perreault. Worth it to have Brossoit over Comrie and Kuli or Sbisa over Dahlstrom.

Might be forced to do that anyway. Too much of this season's revenue is lost for the cap to be able to go up. I'm not sure it won't go down.

Seems to me acquiring Cirelli is wishful thinking. TB have cap problems. Trading him is not the answer.

I really like the Cirelli coming here idea. I give them our 1st, their choice of Lowry or Copp (they probably take Copp) and Niku.
Sign Cirelli to a 5 x 5m deal.
I think Chevy offers LB a two year deal with a wee raise that will be taken off of the table a week before free agency starts. Fair chance LB re-signs.
I also think that he talks Hammer into a 3 or maaaaaaaybe 4 year deal (unprotected for the XD).
DeMelo re-signs.
MP is gone.
If you ask me, the time for this team is now. With the way this team is set up, they should have a chance to win the cup every year for the next 4 years or so.
Helle, Scheif, Lowry, Demelo are entering their prime with JMo, Ehlers, Pionk, Laine, KC, and a few others hot on their tails. Our aging vets are still producing. I think with some tweaks here and there and some creative contracts, we could have a contender for awhile.
All bets off if Helle is injured.
Laine Scheifele Wheeler
KC Cirelli Ehlers
Harkins Little Roslo
Gus Lowry Apples
Shaw

JMo DeMelo
Slamberg Pionk
Heinola Hamonic
Boolow (or another LHD Chevy signs) and Poolman in the pressbox.

I think this might be Niku's last kick to make the team and be smarter defensively.

Helle Brossoit
