I still like to believe that his game has been broken down by Jets coaches in order to build it back up even better.

It's been frustrating at times to watch this year, but as long as Alex believes the Jets have his best interests at heart and continues to try and play the right way, then I think there is hope.

It's certainly better than it was 6 weeks ago. Maybe this is the new trend line?

Almost there
:sarcasm:

The only question is he going to be the 1.5 million dollar man or the 2 million dollar man...

Side note...we might be able to replace Joker with a cardboard standup of Steve Austin, if we place him along the boards, perhaps cardboard Steve will win more battles.

Carbonneau was a 5 time 20 goal scorer. Don't think Burmi has that kind of scoring capability in him.

Burmi scored 13 goals at 20 years old, not quite sure why 20 goals would be outside of the realm of possibility.

Carbonneau didn't even start in the NHL until he was 22. That would be the equivalent of next season or the season after for Burmi.

I doubt that Burmi will reach the level of Carbonneau, one of the all-time greats. But I think the reference is interesting for a talented player that ends up being very valuable for his defence, PK and overall contribution to the team. Highly successful teams need this type of player. I was getting worried that Noel's impatience might turn Burmi off, and based on his effusive praise after the last game I wonder if Noel (or Chevy) realized that he was helping Burmi to get a bad rap with Jets fans.

Give Burmi another season or two and I think we'll see a very strong contributor when he is 22 or 23.

This is the most confusing thread about Burmie, Lawless, and the Winnipeg Sun that I have ever read on these forums.

Still don't think Burmistrov has it in him to score much more than 15 - 18 goals in a season. I don't see any consistency in his game and just doesn't shoot the damn puck enough.

I'll believe it when I see it and until then I don't see him becoming a consistent offense threat with the puck. He can dangle or at least attempt to and spin off checks etc along the boards, but doesn't accomplish much of anything statistically.

I have really liked his play lately, but to me its looking more and more that his role on this team is that of a two-way third liner which is fine. I still don't see top 6 offense from him moving forward.

But if him and Tangs can keep forming chemistry and we can get a Straberg to play RW this summer then we could have a heck of a third line next year.

Also an interesting point...

Datsyuk didn't hit the league until he was 23ish...and then it took him three seasons to really break out offensively.

Lets give Burmi some time.

That is my vote as well but we live in a what have you done for me lately society now and young players get very little room from fans. the good news is it does not matter what we believe at the centre of the universe on HFBoards it all going to come down to Chevy and his team. If Alex fits the long term plans then great......if they want to deal him then I sure hope we maximize value in that move. either way at worst he is going to be a solid 3rd line PK specialist and things could be allot worse.

That's what I'm preaching since last season  I'm getting so tired about that dumbish Burmistrov talk overall. Where is the ****ing problem? He was rushed and will need more time than expected to play up to his potential. A LOT of good players did that. I don't think I have to mention Datsyuk again, do I?

Burmi absolutely needs to play with fast wingers. This forces him to make quick decisions.

Eh? Blake scored 21 goals and 45 points in his rookie year in 2008. Statisticallly his absolute worst season, he still scored 38 points.

He was also 22 in his rookie season, and had a hugely inflated (for his own personal norm) sh%, which you can see his affects by actually creating more scoring chances in the next few seasons but never surpassing 20 goals.
