Hey now, some of you guys need to relax and be a little more objective. I am a BIG Bracco fan and have very high hopes for him. But anyone criticizing his body composition is right...it is HORRIBLE for an ATHLETE. That being said, he is 18 and has LOTS and LOTS of time to turn it around. And not everyone has to look like an athlete to be successful in a sport so maybe it will never become an issue. But anyone who has seen Bracco knows that not only is he light and lacks muscle but he is SOFT, like big time soft. He does have a Wellwood and Kadri type body. And no, Wellwood was NEVER fat by cliche type standards, he actually had quite dainty arms etc, but was very soft. Same with Kadri. He's not 'fat' but he is 'skinny-fat'...and genetics most likely play a role as most of middle eastern descent have similar body types.

Any way, it may never be a problem, and he has an obscene amount of time to turn it around any way. But anyone criticizing someone who is pointing out the type of body Bracco is currently carrying around...be objective. It isn't pretty for an athlete. But in the end it may just be a superficial thing that has no barring on his success as an athlete.

Like Brett Hull. Wayne Gretzky. Even Darcy Tucker, as aggressive as he played was never muscular.

Good numbers so far in OHL. I just believe, no I know he is a Kadri/Wellwood type, a guy with a real propensity to pudginess that will have to work twice as hard as any NHL player to get an NHL body,, and he seems to have half that intensity.

NHL skills in many areas but Junior B body. We see where it got Wellwood, we see where the great Kadri is, hope this kid can break the mould, but I sincerely doubt it. I think he gets as far as being an AHL hotshot. Bruce Boudreau 2015.

Kadri is a legit top-6 center at the NHL level. If our 61st overall pick becomes that, I'll be thrilled.

The real issue with Bracco is "will he get hurt playing his game?". Some guys, like poster mentioned Tucker, who are small in stature get lucky and avoid serious injury. When one plays the game on the edge in corners and in front of net smaller guys tend to get injured more. However I think most of us would agree you'd rather have a skilled guy who goes for loose pucks and takes the hits, the Leafs need more of those type of players irrespective of size. Hopefully he does not get concussed in the ohl as his size does not match up to his courage.

Saw him play Friday night in Kitchener against North Bay. Skating was a little better than average ohl. Saw Mike at game and that was cool. Up from his bar for the weekend. He is a smooth skater technically strong on his edges and likes outside in move and the drives the posts.

Bad comparison to Kadri. Kadri an east west player who stops on blue line and looks for pass first. Bracco north south guy who drives the net. Also bracco much much better hockey iq. I'd take kadri for his hands and bracco for hockey iq.

Fans don't like me because I look at my team objectively, not through the eyes of a fan. I was the first "fan" of the Leafs, and yes I am a fan to pronounce us as eventual last place overall dwellers when I saw us pick Schenn and when I saw Burke ride into town and trade two first overall picks for a one way scorer like Kessel. Well before we were even close to rebuilding.

I just call em, like I see them. Bracco to anyone who sees objectively, is short, and of a weak upper body and with a tendency to pudginess. A well below NHL body type. He does possess great talents, as did Wellwood and many AHL teases before him.

I would love to be wrong, but I have been saying the same thing about Kadri since the day I watched him play. No speed, no NHL body. Just a great dangler. With a great bag of tricks, Kadri is lucky they ever let him out of the AHL. Some get lucky, and get a break, others stay in the A for life.

I have to say it over and over, you need a very rigorous AHL system now to bond guys through the minors into the NHL. Leafs have never had it, not in most of the peoples lifetimes on this board.

So I suppose, many might not understand that Stanley Cup Champions have to be built up through the system. We live in times of free agency now, its more that way than ever.
I don't respect your opinion because your points are factually incorrect and are then used to make bold claims. Wellwood and Kadri don't have the same body type and then to make an assumption based on that is moronic.

How early is Bracco eligible to come to the AHL (and make use of the training facilities)?
Could of started there instead of Kitchener if we wanted, but now we got to wait til the end of the Rangers season. Use Sonny Milano as a comparable.

He also said that Burke drafted Schenn.....

He has been posting for a month and talking about events that happened years ago and claiming he was the first....

Go easy on the guy. Not only is he new, but he has suffered a painful upper body injury from patting himself on the back.

Don't understand this.

It makes all the sense in the world for him to play in the O. He will get more games, more ice-time, more ability to compete in the spotlight.

Maybe he wasn't getting ice-time in Boston and had no way of cracking the top couple lines anytime soon.

Just my luck. Picks the same name as me, although apparently he was "first".

how is braccos speed in the OHL, look slow at all?

No, he doesn't look slow. Top speed is above average but not spectacular, his edge work and agility are very, very good. Maintains speed while turning for the most part.

Read it in the context of the immediately preceding post. The "guy" is not Bracco. It's a poster named teeder something- not Kennedy - who engaged in a bout of self congratulation that deserves a five minute major.

TIL that Kadri shouldn't have made it out of the AHL.

I never said i don't like anyone on here including you. Is that your generalization nature standing out or what eh! Bracco is clipping along at 2 points per game and as unsustainable as we might suspect that to be, maybe the kid deserves praises instead of insults under the circumstances.

You have poor timing to be trying to explain his weaknesses. I believe he is putting on a show beneficial to getting noticed by fans. I think he made a good move jumping to the Ohl actually. He will now be evaluated on a even playing field and in the same league as many of our prospects. I liked the kids demeanor in the lone interview i was able to hear him speak too.

To most fans i believe he is unknown and this move to the Ohl should change that significantly.

I think you posted this 20 years ago because fee agency has declined to the point you have to build through drafting because very few big namers make it to F/A. "pudginess" lol? Like Doughty and Kessel? I'll take pudginess and top notch skill over NHL body with no skill ala Tyler Biggs.
