Gorton, but he had the easier job of getting to trade everyone, it’s two different jobs they are doing in terms of progress of the team.

Also, would say Drury list should have added his extensions for Fox, Chytil and Mika. Those are long term commitments under his watch.

The Fox extension is probably Drury’s best move, even if people turned on Fox for game 7.

Drury list also missing Tro signing, which even after a bad playoff was a good first season.

There are moves missing from the Gorton list

2nd+3rd for Smith

2 2nds+Saarela for E.Staal

Hagelin+2nd for Etem, 2nd and 6th

Talbot+7th for 2nd, 3rd, 7th.

but Drury for the simple reason that he wasn't the one who signed Panarin.

Gorton's draft coverage on tv was so nubby. How did that guy climb the ladder?

They both have done a good job but their jobs were very different. Drury also played a part with the team before Gorton was fired.

List doesn't include extensions and should. It's too early to say for sure and I'm not in love with either but it's Drury for me. Lindgren, Fox, Chytil, Igor, and even Zibanejad deals look good to very good.

Also Gorton was in charge for the 3-month benching/buyout of Henrik which I just cannot forgive.

Agreed that Gorton isn’t perfect but Drury’s list of wins is extremely small and several were quite fleeting I.e. 2022 TDL. The way he has flip flopped around trying to build a tough grinding team and the star chasing he did at the deadline this year does not inspire confidence
Going with Gorton. He (and JD) had a set plan and it was going fine. Dolan got impatient and Drury came in who seems to be up and down with the direction he wants to go..

Drury’s body of work so far is good. He inherited the Buch situation and had no leverage. Slight overpay for Copp, but no-one’s complaining with where it got us last season. Great work on the Tank and Mikkola trade.

To me, the black mark is the Kane trade. And he actually managed the trade itself well in terms of the cost. But really just shouldn’t have done it at all - it messed up the chemistry.
