Since he had an opt-out, they had someone to move to the 60-day anyway, and he's had a fantastic spring... I actually have no problem with this, particularly if he takes Drury's spot.

Don't mind it at all. Similar to Shaw, if you're hoping for a return to 2017 form for a 29 year old. Apparently, he's a great dude too, which they've place some importance on.

Yeah, no one they sign to those kinds of contracts (Galvis, Sogard, Panik, Tejada, etc.) is likely to be particularly good, so I'm perfectly content with them being guys who fit profiles they like and who can potentially have a positive impact on the young regulars in some way.

1 prospect on each team who impressed in ST

Blue Jays: Santiago Espinal, SS/2B (No. 22)
Toronto’s decision to add Espinal to its 40-man roster last November already looks like a wise one. Acquired from Boston in the June 2018 Steve Pearce swap, the 25-year-old utility man batted .417 with seven of his 10 hits going for extra bases (including three home runs) this spring after slashing .287/.347/.393 with 35 extra-base hits and 71 RBIs in 122 games last season between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo. Blue Jays top prospect Nate Pearson (MLB No. 8) also had a big spring showing, striking out 11 while allowing one run on two hits over seven innings.

man, this will really suck for us
Could work out well if it is a double cohort draft class and we keep our draft position at #5.

Twice as many players to choose from, some with an extra season to develop and scout. Would also be good for teams with supplemental picks too

A shortened regular season would probably be a good thing for the sport as most fans agree on 162 games being too much. Would add some more importance and drama to each series too

MLB being postponed is probably the best thing to happen to the Astros lmao

With the way USA is handling the virus, there won't be a season this year.

Watch these classic MLB games on YouTube

Blue Jays

Joe Carter's World Series winner (Oct. 23, 1993, World Series Game 6):
Carter crushes a three-run walk-off shot in the bottom of the ninth to win the Blue Jays their second straight title.

Joey Bats hits 50 (Sept. 23, 2010): José Bautista's run as one of baseball's most feared sluggers begins with the only 50-homer season in team history.

The bat flip (Oct. 14, 2015, ALDS Game 5): Joey Bats' bat flip in the winner-take-all Game 5 against the Rangers makes him an instant postseason legend.

Edwin's Wild Card walk-off (Oct. 4, 2016, AL Wild Card Game):
The parrot takes flight as Edwin Encarnación sends the Jays past the Orioles with one mighty blow in the bottom of the 11th.

10 Spring Training stat lines you shouldn't ignore

Bo Bichette, Blue Jays
Spring line: .290/.371/.774, 4 HRs, 1 2B and 1 3B in 31 AB
Remember when Bichette came up to the Majors last August and did nothing but crush extra-base hits? Well, Bichette did his best this spring to show that was far from a fluke. We know that power runs in the family; Bichette’s father, Dante, clubbed 274 homers in the big leagues. And Bo’s 43.5% hard-hit rate, if carried over a full season, would have put him around the 75th percentile of full-time hitters in 2019. Plenty of optimism remains for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Year 2, but sleep on Bichette at your own risk.

Breaking down MLB's top 10 bullpens for 2020

Honorable mention
I guess… anybody? Because who knows what unforeseen stalwarts will spring up.
But for now take note that Steamer’s projections have three relievers not mentioned above to be worth 1 Win Above Replacement in 2020, which would be a good building block for their respective clubs – Matt Barnes (Red Sox), José Leclerc (Rangers) and Ken Giles (Blue Jays).

Blue Jays president says 4 weeks of spring training needed before season

TORONTO -- With no sign of when training camps can resume, Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro says he thinks Major League Baseball would need at least a month of workouts and exhibition games before regular-season play can begin.

Opening Day has been postponed until at least mid-May because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Knowing that so many players are not even having any access to throwing at all or hitting at all, but most importantly just throwing, and probably limited access to just training and exercise, it's hard to imagine we could get ready in less than four weeks," Shapiro said in a teleconference with Toronto reporters.

Shapiro cautioned that training camps aren't likely to reopen for some time.

"I do think that we're, by and large, waiting for some sort of flattening of the curve and recognition that we have done our best to limit the strain on the health care system and the economic system," he said. "Until that time, the exact outcome and impact on our schedule, and all of the corresponding business that cascades off that, really can't be determined.

"It certainly looks like we are not dealing with days and likely not weeks, but closer to months."

Speaking from his Toronto home, where he and his family are isolating themselves, Shapiro said he expects negotiations between MLB and the players' union on an industry-wide plan to compensate players for missed games to conclude "in the next 24 to 48 hours."

All but three of Toronto's major league players have left the team's spring training site in Dunedin, Florida. Those who remain are South Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu, Japanese right-hander Shun Yamaguchi and right-hander Rafael Dolis, who is from the Dominican Republic.

Shapiro said the three players "did not have any place to go." They are the only players who maintain access to Toronto's Florida facilities.

If you were ranking top Jays players of the 2010s, where would you rank Marco Estrada? In the top 10? Outside of the top 10? For 2 seasons, he was great. Opponents couldn't hit a lick against him + some extremely clutch pitching performances in the playoffs when the team was facing elimination. What do you think?
