Jagr is still better than like half the league. If a kid cant beat out Jagr then the kid isnt ready. Or maybe it's because Jagr would have to be 70 for any kid to be able to displace him, he was that Godly of a Hockey player.
His performance this year makes me question your ability to evaluate players.

Iginla lost his chance at a Cup, when he nixed the trade that would have sent him to Boston. He shot himself in the foot. Not that he necessarily would have won, if he'd gone to Boston, but when a player nixes a trade that was seemingly "done," I lose compassion for them. It's like Eric Lindros not wanting to sign with Quebec City.

"If Jagr gave us half of Iginla, we win the cup"

I'd like the Oilers to give both a PTO. With our weakness on the right wing (Rattie, Pulujarvi, Yamamoto and Kassian are probably our starting day RW's), I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them make the team. I'd rather let Yamamoto marinate than call him up too early, and Rattie may not be the player he was for 20 games to close out the season with us. Neither are ideal, but could possibly be better than doing nothing.

I’d hope both of those guys would realize that a PTO offer is a sign to hang em up.

Why change my post?

The real last line was:

Just seems to me that if there's a hole at RW, Iginla might be a better option than an AHL'er for a team that has ambitions for a deep run.”

And I stand by that, btw. Right now, in a conference final series, if there’s an injury at wing I’d damn well rather add Iginla than some AHL rookie.

Iginla was done over a year ago and hasn't played since. No you wouldn't.

This thread was bumped from months ago. If Iginla had signed with someone in February, when he was skating with an AHL team for conditioning, it would be quite different than if he just dropped randomly onto a team on May 17th. Obviously nobody would sign him off his living room couch right now.

But the Jets’ bottom-6 wingers have accounted for 2 non-EN goals in the month of May — one by Perreault to make it a 6-2 game against Nashville, and one by Armia in the series opener against Vegas. For a team that has been completely reliant on their top lines for scoring, there are a lot worse things you could do than add a 600-goal scoring, Cup-hungry former captain who’s willing to grind and was still good for 15-20 goals at last check.

This came up last night when Ehlers couldn’t play and the Jets had to go with Roslovic. After playing 11 sheltered minutes and contributing nothing of note, Roslovic’s biggest play of the night was getting the puck on a late rush with a chance to tie the game, making a clean unforced turnover, and biting it into the boards while the Vegas crowd laughed.

Depth matters.

Jagr had a toxic attitude after he got injured and had to be paid out the remainder of his contract because he wouldn't stop coming to the rink. I think he is done in the NHL.
