I would like if we could swap him for Kailer Yamamoto or Pulju. I think Puljujarvi especially could add a lot to the Bruins. He's got size and plays a style of hockey the Bruins used to be known for and could help add some sand paper grit to the team.

There’s absolutely no way they could land Pulju.

Yama would be much more likely

Trying to make sure he didn't get injured
I kind’ve figured that there was something going on behind the scenes because many here disagreed with Cassidy’s decision. Regardless I don’t want this to be dragged out until TDL, it’s best to try and make something work as soon as possible.

The thing Boston should not do is give in to his trade demand. They trade him when it works for the team. Let other GM’s pitch their best deal and hold out.
The worst thing to do is ship him out and get nothing in return because DeBrusk will likely go to his next team and be a top line player.
Patience is needed.

It needs to work for the Bruins. They can not allow DeBrusk to dictate things.

I said this already on the main boards, but I will support Jake wherever he goes. I will always have a soft spot for the guy. Even if he's fallen off the last couple of years.

I think if you're Jake, you see Marchand is not going anywhere, well except these next 3 games (Too soon?) and Hall was just locked up. If he believes that he can produce better elsewhere then he'll wanna capitalize on it for his career. He's 25 now. He's not getting above 3rd line minutes.

Also throw in the fact that Bruce seems to be losing faith in him with the recent scratch. Whether you think he had it coming or Bruce was harsh or whatever, Idc. Point is there seems to be friction.

Obviously the last part is speculation, we don't truly know what goes on behind closed doors.

I have no idea how a trade for him looks. Do we go for cap relief with a draft pick? Do we get another player in return? Maybe part of a bigger deal? Idk

I would like the Bruins to use DeBrusk as a way to get a player who is under performing on another team that could bounce back on another team. Someone like Kailer Yamamoto, Kirby Dach, Tomas Hertl, Tanner Pearson, etc. Something like that and a low round pick would be what I would like to see Sweeney do to get a return on DeBrusk.

agreed, it ain`t like Jake has enormous value right now either

never understand Jake, his old man, with half the skill, played the game hard shift in and out, wasn`t a great player but you could never question the effort from the old man then there`s Jake, nothing, and I mean nothing seems to light a fire under his ass

Find the right deal, ship this SOB outta here

Puljujarvi is having a great year so fat chance of them trading him now. Wish they had done it a couple years ago when he was looking like a bust. Just once I'd like to see this team buy low on a guy and have it be a home run. Kase could have been that guy for them, but they cut bait arguably too soon.

Zach Kassian is my guess if it's Edmonton.

Well no way jake returns a player that is highly productive at the moment . His value if all time low unfortunately unless we add picks etc. If its 1 to 1 deal the most I see is dylan strome close age and almost same numbers career wise. I think it's a fair for both sides. Both taking unproductive assets and hope a change of scenery works for both. That's my angle on this. Wish jake would stay but that ship sailed when Bruce called him out twice I believe. This relationship is toast.

The facts don't lean towards Boston getting much in return for Jake.

25-year old pure LWer. Arbitration eligible. High cap hit relative to his recent production. High qualifying offer. Public trade demand. Doesn't kill penalties. Not a PP specialist. Questionable defensively. Streaky offensively. Lacks versatility. Not terribly physical. Not big or small. Not quick or strong.

Seriously can they get a 2nd rounder for him? I doubt it. I think if they get a 3rd in a future draft (i.e. not 2022) and they gain they cap space is about all they'll get for Debrusk at this point. When you talk about selling low, this is it. They let him bottom out for nearly two years now and now it's too late and time to move on.
I was hoping they'd trade him for a 2nd this summer so they could use it in the 2021 draft. I figure if anyone was offering a 2nd for him they'd have done it already so yeah probably not gonna happen.

the fact that it was already leaked to the media that they are actively working on something means they've already botched it IMO.
Basically yeah, agent or his father leak it after Sweeney waited too long to move him?

When was the last time a player requested a trade out of Boston, is it Dougie?

Bruins didn't leak this. The agent did because everyone knows how tight lipped the Bruins are.

Marchand is out 3 games. Pretty sure the Bruins were hoping DeBrusk could step up in the next week but then his agent pulls this shortly after the suspension is announced.

I would argue DeBrusk has roughly the same trade value that Alex Tuch had/has and in the right package could help reel in a good player. The problem is that I don't have a lot of faith in Don Sweeney to get that kind of home run trade right. But swapping a depressed asset for another depressed asset I could see Sweeney getting right.

Maybe they can package him with someone else and get a decent player back ? Either way this is good news , Bruins needed to make some kind of move, any move to shake things up .

This makes lots of sense Ali, I’m liking it.
