So why not trade Evans then? Again, why trade one of our best young asset for one that's been struggling. Again look elsewhere and trade one of our RHD for a LHD instead. Keep our young core. For the 1st time in forever Habs have DEPTH @ the C position and now you want to throw it away just to fill a gap that could easily bee filled w/ our next 2 top15 picks?

What you are trying to do is speed up the rebuild process, and that has NEVER helped any team

If I could keep Poehling I WOULD, but Carolina needs a #2c and it's their softest position, I don't see Carolina backing on this but why not add ?

Bean + Foegele

for Poehling ?

I don't like the trade idea but admit that it's because I'm a homer for Poehling. My concern for the trade though is because I don't see Bean as a top pairing LD and I wouldn't want to trade Poehling for a 3LD until after we solve the top pairing situation at the earliest. I'm not overly sold on Bean developing to be a better player than Mete (I think he will be, not sure enough though to act)and I don't feel he'll be as good as Brook (who could in theory be played on his off side). I don't think he solves anything but would be a great player to have.

Trade isn't necessarily brutal, I'm just not liking the idea of giving up a centre prospect.

We're not moving Brook
If i'm getting a similar D playing on the left side, why no? He's good but obviously, but the RH side is jammed with Weber (5-6more years), Petry (same unless traded) and Juulsen (who's more then capable of being a solid 2nd pairing RHD)

Again not saying we should do it, but if someone offers me a prospect of Evan Bouchard or Quinn Hughes status for Brook, then Yeah I take it

Habs won't do that deal

Poehling kept getting bettr after he's been drafted vs Bean who looked like he stagnated.

And I don't understand why Poehling wouldn't stay with the Habs. The 2C slot is his to take. Kotkaniemi is gonna take that 1C spot at some point, Domi will go back to the wings and Danult will be our 3C going forward.

Drouin-Kotka-Domi
Suzuki-Poehling-Gallagher
Tatar-Danault-Lehkonen

Thats one heck of a top9.
Woah woah woah Domi is our number 1 center

This is our depth:

Domi
Kotka
Poehling
Danault
Chaput
Peca
Olofsson
McShane

Its fair though. Maybe Ryan Poehling for Hayden Fleuey could work. Hes a LD isnt he

I used to by higher on Fluery than Bean, Beans play this year though has changed my opinion by quite a bit. I'd much rather have Bean.

I believe this deal is reasonably fair. Not being a fan of either team, the trade does have risks.

Poehling is the better player, but after his 3rd season of college, possible risk he might not sign. He only needs to finish his final year and choose the team of his choice. Habs have done a masterful job fixing their weaknesses at C (Domi, Danault and Kotkan) but this pushed him down on the depth charts to being a 3rd or 4th line role.

Bean is really skinny for his height. WJC play was terrible and Canada was fortunate they won Gold with his mistakes. Canes have a deep DMen core which would be difficult to break through. His play has stagnated and not sure if this is due to confidence or size being pushed around. Mentioned about being good offensively, but not so sure.

So this is a deal involving depth. Poehling is the superior player, but with risks of not signing and getting a decent prospect in Bean. However, Habs risk on a stagnating or possibly regressing player. A fair trade proposal.

I do not see Domi sticking @ C when Poehling plays pro.

The 1C spot is probbaly Kotkaniemi's with Domi and Drouin on the wings. Poehling still has the #2C spot quite easily inf ront of Danault.

That’s not the way I see it at all. I don’t think Poehling becomes our 2nd C

Drouin-Domi-Gallagher
Byron-Kotkaniemi-Suzuki
Lehkonen-Poehling-Shaw
Agostino-Danault-Armia

Tatar traded for help on D

Domi has been way too good at center to move him. We haven’t had a guy playing PPG pace at center in decades.

I would put Lehkonen instead of Agostino, but otherwise good lines. The forward corps is coming together. Just need defence.

Again, in 2-3years from now, we may want Domi on the wings.

Trade Byron whil he has value of a 40-50pts player playing with heart. @ 30+, he'll slow down and won,t be as effective. offense coming from all 3 top lines.

Keeping Byron over 30 in our top6 will be a mistake IMO. Trade him while he has a good value aroudn the league.

Byron only has 380 games played at 29, he’s got sooo much hockey left, he’s a very young 29 year old NHLer.

IMO we should be trying to win a cup WITH Byron.

I do really really like this deal.

I don't see fleury piercing the right with petry/brook/weber/juulsen but he could make the canes right wing. I like Roy, he is playing well this year and he could fit our line up due to his size. Great and fair deal

I was underwhelmed by Bean's play in the U20s as one of the older players (his last year of eligibility). And Poehling's is a better prospect. So no for me dawg.

It's just science... Body starts to decline @ 30-31-32... When you rely on speed and grit mainly, and you,re only 5'8, it's hard to maintain after 30.

But yeah as posted above, I'd do a deal like

Ryan Poehling
Cale Fleury

Vs

Nicolas Roy
Jake Bean

Solves the LHD, and Roy brings size to our top6 on the wings...

Druoin-Domi-Suzuki
Roy-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher
Tatar-Danault-Lehkonen

Bean-Weber
Mete-Petry
Kulak-Juulsen
