Proposal: Jake Bean for Ryan Poehling [MTL-CAR] swap

Future #2c after Necas (Necas/Poehling) Would solve a lot on their Center depth. Poehling is a 200ft responsible Center, extremly mature for his age. Great size and amazing hockey IQ. Only reason montreal would deal him is for a top4 LHD of the same age and because they are stacked at center for the next year.

Montreal get Bean, An excellent LHD skater who is a good puck-carrier up the ice, and who can be a top 4 in Mtl ( in Carolina he doesn't make the top4).



Is it fair for both side ? Who add ?
I love both of those prospects, trust me it's hard on MTL to deal Poehling but it would be worth it imo for the need of the team.

I like Bean, a lot. But C's and RHD's are harder to obtain. I'm not sure Montreal would feel this was a good deal.

Why peoheling, Suzuki is a safer bet for us, while Poehling is already NHL ready I don't trust 100% that he will sign with MTL after his NCAA..
Also, LHD < C for sure, Should Carolina add ?

Definitely the same for me, but with Bean next year our top 4 D and top 6 O would be insanely strong.

Which really makes this proposal an interesting one to think about, so props to you there. I guess it just comes down to whether or not they think they'd be in any position to make a run next season, which I can't see happening

Habs won't do that deal

Poehling kept getting bettr after he's been drafted vs Bean who looked like he stagnated.

And I don't understand why Poehling wouldn't stay with the Habs. The 2C slot is his to take. Kotkaniemi is gonna take that 1C spot at some point, Domi will go back to the wings and Danult will be our 3C going forward.

Mostly interview, doesn't seem eager to play in Mtl, wants to stay in the US with his brothers,
Also he thought he was drafter by Toronto, not Mtl ( was a funny mistake on his part though)

Poehling will be a good 200ft 2c theres almost no doubt. Is mtl over paying a tad ? we might... but honnestly look at that:

Drouin/Domi/Suzuki OR Drouin/Suzuki/Domi
Tatar/Kotkaniemi/Gallagher

Bean/Weber
Mete or Reilly/Petry


Danault, Jake evans as 3rd C is more than good. and Suzuki can still be an amazing #3 C

There is no reason whatsoever. He's just being fearful cause every year there's that few weeks where NCAA players test the market (which is a dumb rule). Usually players end up sticking with their teams but sometimes, they switch; most notably Jimmy Vasey and Kevin Hayes. This is rare and shouldn't be feared.

Poehling has everything going for him here. There's a 2C slot just waiting for him to arrive. Also, I could see Habs signing him this off season and bringing him straight to the show next season

Poehling said post game last week that he's hoping to join the Habs at the end of the year but is focused on improving his game this year to help his team. He's indicated multiple times he intends on playing in the NHL next year, Habs or trade is the only way that happens.

Bean has seen his stats regressing in his draft + 1 and draft + 2 year. I won,t trade a guy who's been growing very well for another one that's been struggling just to patch a hole.

Worst case scenario, you look @ Vancouver for Juollevi and give them one of our RHD in Brook, Fleury or Tyzcka.

So why not trade Evans then? Again, why trade one of our best young asset for one that's been struggling. Again look elsewhere and trade one of our RHD for a LHD instead. Keep our young core. For the 1st time in forever Habs have DEPTH @ the C position and now you want to throw it away just to fill a gap that could easily bee filled w/ our next 2 top15 picks?

What you are trying to do is speed up the rebuild process, and that has NEVER helped any team
