I see De la Rose, Vejdemo, and Olofson as pretty typical Timmins picks regardless of country of origin. They're in the Chipchura, McCarron, etc.. mold. Solid all around players with limited offensive flair. It's why imo he was better at finding Dmen than forwards.

It's unfortunate, imo, that the few forwards with offensive talent weren't developed better on and off the ice: A. Kostitsyn, S. Kostitsyn, Grabovski, Galchenyuk, Scherbak. But of course each of those players are mainly responsible. I just think something could have been done to keep them from the wrong crowdsand mold them into committed professionals. Some young people respond well to the right kind of instruction for them, and their background and perspective. Scherbak was totally clueless about why he didn't make it and the things he needed to do at 23, 24. He still thought putting up points at the AHL level was enough, even though he was a turnover machine and wasn't particularly committed to fitness.

Meh, he was worth a try at that spot IMO. The tools and the size were pretty appealing , he just never got better at any part of his game. He's a study case in prospects playing in the SHL probably too early and hitting a development wall. Had he come to NA in his D + 1 season the story might have been different but we'll never know.
