Jones isn't being moved pretty much no matter what you offer. He's #2 in TOI in the League right now.

I agree. I was just thinking along lines of value. Edmonton can’t really afford to move Draisaitl and I think the offer is solid if for some reason Jones was shopped. For the record I’d keep Jones over anyone straight but McDavid.

Yeah, I think Drai only moves if it gets us a legitimate #1 D back. And those aren't available at the moment, so we're happy to keep him for now.

And that would never happen because McDavid’s value is unmatched. But ya, I take Jones over Drai all day long.

It might be, but frankly I can't get into that headspace right now. The idea of trading him at this point is just that outré. ;)

All while not playing wing with the best player in the world.

Draisaitl plays ~50% with McDavid and the other 50% with guys like Rieder, Caggiula, Chiasson. Oilers only have 3 good forwards, so they often play together to carry the offense.

Atkinson is playing with Panarin 76% of the time. Does he keep this ppg+ pace if Panarin leaves or they are separated? I think not.

Does this get the ball rolling?

No, not sure why it would.

If Seth Jones isn’t offered - and it wouldn’t be - I’m not super interested in anything the Jackets could offer regarding Draisaitl. You don’t trade guys like him for collections of lesser bits and pieces

I remember when people said the same thing about Panarin being moved from Kane... Cams stats have increased every season except last year when he miss at least 1/4 with a broken foot. Tbis year is no different. Honestly Cam having an actual C in PLD has just as much effect on his improvement. People dont realize last year was his first year starting at 1RW he had been a mid guy for years because our play style. Lines like Cam Dubi and Calvert.

This deal isnt good for EDM but your not throwing the CBJ a bone either Cams contract is a beauty and he is a player who wants to retire here and can be a guy people want to come play with. He has all the makings of a MSL all while having his best playing years under the same coach that other guy won his cup with.

The problem with this thread is Cam is 1 of if not the most underrated F in the league. People in this thread likely still think Ryan Murray would barely be their 4 or bottom pair at best because its Columbus and they still think we are the Jared Boll/Derrek Dorsett bruisers and not the team that had more points scored and a better PP before we had a guy like Panarin...

Cam has as many points as Draisaitl, makes three million less and has a no move and has starte multiple times he wants to retire with Columbus. On top of that you want Wennberg?

Plus Cam and panarin are close, trading him didn't help cbj keep panarin.

As much as I think the trade is not worth, Cam is not as good as Draisaitl.... He is fast and I love him as a player ( would take him with MTL). but don't think he will do 90p this year... he is a 50-60p speedy scorer.

I get that Draisaitl is supposed to be the greatest non-McDavid player in the League, but, yeah, we'd be much better off with Atkinson and Wennberg.

It might not be much better for Edmonton, but stop pretending that this is a runaway win for the Jackets. It's not.

if you start a post insulting the other party in the thread, why even post?

As for the topic both fan bases would rather have their guys. Columbus fans likely feel due to point totals that Atkinson is at least close to Drai.

Oil fans feel Drai is better and that Atkinson is riding a hot streak(edit: a Panarin streak)and Wennberg hasn't returned to form since his 16-17 season.

Werenski for Draisaitl makes a lot more sense to me.

I get why both sides don't like the original deal. But it's not as far off as EDM fans think it is. Atkinson alongside McDavid would be NUTS.

Value is close, but Edmonton needs skilled forwards more than we need D. Much, much more.

Draisaitl next to McDavid is already NUTS, issue is we become a one line team.

To CBJ: Draisaitl

To Edm: Wennberg, Atkinson

I feel like if CBJ made a trade like this, they could increase their chances in persuading panarin and bobrovsky into staying. Maybe not even this trade in general but what if instead of trading Bob or Panarin, they traded for someone they wanted to play with? Do you think they'd stay?

Nope, if Draisaitl is traded to CBJ it'll be for Jones or Werenski

It would be like when the Jackets traded Johansen for Jones. The Jackets were without a #1C at all.

I understand why the Oilers wouldn't do it. I'm definitely looking at this more from a CBJ perspective.

If Cam is doing this well because of Panarin, how much better would he be with the best player in the league dishing him?!

Meh, it's starting to look like we'll need lefties more than righties.
Because Bouchard is the saviour for Oilers on RD?
Unless Seth Jones is available there is no deal around Drai to CBJ.
