Dreger inteview is all bullshit, and it's bad for you.

Jack isn't going anywhere until he professes a desire for it, and also we get proper value for it. First one hasn't happened yet. He's still calling Bjork to welcome him to Buffalo.

Seriously, Dreger's reason for this was "IT'S TIME, DON'T YOU THINK GUYS?!", and Peters/Rivet were apparently asleep at the wheel and didn't call him out for nonsense.

Anybody saying is Jack is going anywhere, after seeing the 180 this team has done with a change in coaching is talking out of their a**.

The turn around in a multitude of players' games, I'm sure isn't going unnoticed by Jack.

Do you honestly think the kids would be playing with this much confidence and freedom if Jack was still with team? We all know one's confidence tends to decline if an alpha is in the room. The attitude is just different without Jack.

I personally think Granato being able to fully take over was made much easier without Eichel in the room. There been one voice and attitude being portrayed.

Donny Meatballs will be fine with Eichel in the room.

Given this announcement re: disc, neck surgery, and the obvious pain, it’s understandable he developed an addiction and substance abuse issues. :sarcasm:

...idiots...will they recant?
Hey I get the rumors are probably made up non-sense. But do you think they stem from nowhere? He has a reputation around town. Right or wrong it's a thing.

(Not directed to you singularly.)

It's one thing to speculate a player has a drinking / drug problem, or to openly discuss a publicly revealed addiction. It's another thing altogether to speculate a player is missing time for addiction rehab & treatment vs. missing time for previously reported physical injuries consistent with an observed modification in playing style / on-ice performance. That's regardless of whether or not the player is Eichel, and regardless of whether or not Eichel indeed has a substance problem. It's borderline specious.

The other thing is that when a player enters the NHL substance abuse program, that does get announced.

Will his message trumps Granato to a 22 year old player? If Granato is telling the boys to push, but Eichel is upset because the player caused a goal against by pushing, will the young player continue to push, or hold back to not make Eichel upset?

Who's attitude will the young player gravitate to?

Sure. I don't disagree with any of that. And feel bad for many of these athletes having to put up with this kind of speculation. But many NHL players have reputations and a couple have played here recently. People are going to talk shit about rich and famous athletes right or wrong. Put that together with the Sabres lack of recent success and people will really begin to speculate.

And believe me they are. I've heard the rumors from 3 separate people. One of which who has a close relative working in the organization. And I'm not talking about some ticket collector. It's a person in the know

99% of the time yes, they come from nowhere.

The amount of BS made up about pro athletes in this town by people trying to be cool has been off the charts forever.

I'm cautiously optimistic the rehab works and he's fine come august/sept.

Worst case they push rehab hard and then late May decide on surgery. Not ready for training camp. Late to get on his skates. Not back until xmas. Ugh.

so the basis of the kids not playing as well with eichel....is some hypothetical tension in a make believe scenario you have completely made up in your head ?

I don't know anything about the rumors you're speaking about. But I do have a first hand under aged Eichel drinking story.

Saturday night of St. Patrick's day weekend 2016. Eichel was 19.

I was at Buffalo Proper on Franklin. It was one of those trendy bars with the shelves of liquor almost to the ceiling that bar tenders would have to climb to get to. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?pb=!...hUKEwiW8tan6IXwAhXhY98KHamVDhsQpx8wFHoECCAQCA

Around 2am Eichel, Foligno and McCabe show up. All 3 guys were pretty chill, shaking hands and giving out hugs. Foligno and McCabe were real friendly and shooting the shit with people, Eichel was more stand offish, he didn't really talk to anybody. I don't remember them seeming drunk or anything.

The bartenders let Eichel behind the bar and he climbed up and grabbed a bottle of I don't know what off the top shelf, takes a swig from the bottle, then steps onto the bar top and starts pouring shots right from the bottle into everybody's open mouth(mine included) and goes end to end until the bottle was empty.

Easily the coolest thing as a Buffalo sports fan to have happen to me in Buffalo.

I guess I did also run into Girgensons the summer he turned 21. He was black out drunk at Exchange on Allen St. He dropped his beer bottle on the ground and it shattered and got beer and glass all over my foot. He was so drunk he thought he broke my beer bottle and to apologize he ordered a round of bud lights and started handing them out to me and my friends, even though I still had a beer in hand. Lol

The fact that 19 is considered “not smart enough to drink” in this story is the most egregious thing here. Like it’s so weird that you can buy any type of gun you want or do porn at 18 is fine, but even looking at a Bud Light is something you can’t do. It makes no sense at all

I know you’re European (Swedish?). In the USA, the voting age was dropped from 21 to 18 for national elections during the Vietnam war era because young men were drafted and sent off without privilege to vote for or against those who were conscripting them. Drinking age used to be 18. Essentially raised to 21
