Involved in what? GM?
I don't know, I was not happy to hear that but the way mm made it sound he seemed to give it some credibility. I would think Dubas would be GM, maybe edzo would be a figurehead of some sort.

Dubas and Darche would be my dream team.

Mark Madden mentioned and apparently it was also mentioned by Paul steigerwald that Edzo might somehow be involved. Can't say I'd be keen on that.
I can't imagine in anything important. More of a hey, here's a job now stop going on TV and acting bitter that we fired your awful ass 20 years ago. Unfortunately it's probably not that.

Ew if we get Edzo to be the GM we are doomed. Luckily nobody credibly has said anything.

I don't think he would be GM again I would just guess he'd be a figureheader hockey consultant in some form or fashion. Maybe for PR purposes but I can't imagine him being general manager. I sure as hell hope not. Again I'm not happy with the idea of him being even a figure hat. But maybe for PR purposes they think he could help things along I don't know.

From his perspective I get it from the Pittsburgh Penguins perspective however we need to get a guy in place here. We have to be prepared for the draft and potential trades and such. If it all gets done Tuesday or Wednesday then I can see that, if it goes beyond that then maybe move on to something or someone else.
Also, Thursday we have a couple guys we have to sign or lose their rights…June 1 is signing day…need someone in here as things are starting…

This was mentioned in an article by, I believe, LeBrun ~4 days ago.

If Dubis is your next GM…good luck, you’ll desperately need it.
Yea the Pens might lose in the 1st or 2nd round. oh noo.

Pittsburgh has 5 championships and 6 finals appearances since 1991. Most of us here were very much alive to see at least 3 Cups and 4 finals. We would be okay with a few entertaining seasons and a rebuild. The goal, when you're the most successful expansion team in the league, is about franchise stability - not winning at all costs, like when you haven't won a Cup since Elvis was slim.

Random thought....

What if the hold up isn't necessarily Dubas, but Dubas potentially talking to someone like Steve Greeley from Dallas, who was a GM candidate but probably isn't ready for that large of a role. What if Greeley impressed and FSG wants to hire him in a larger capacity than he is in Dallas, but wants Dubas to talk to him first? Maybe they're waiting for that series to wrap so Greeley can come to Pittsburgh.

They could be waiting for all of that to unfold so they could introduce them together.

Or maybe Dubas is just pondering it all over from a personal standpoint.

Could be a million different things. It’s a big operation with a large and complicated contract in sure. Also involves moving your family to a different country.

hey, i know the leafs are run a bit different, but we here on hfboard pens, we don't actually have any input on the outcome of games, so the amount of luck we require is actually 0. But you guys being collective management for the team... that seems to be working out well for you.

Like, how much glue to you have to huff to be a fan of a franchise that couldn't spell "Stanley Cup" if we spotted you the consonants and come into a group of fans of a team who have won 3 in the past 14 years and be all self-righteous about success?

If the leafs simply did the opposite of everything they've done in the past 50 years, they'd probably have a cup right now. Maybe that's what the Penguins are trying.

GOOD LUCK, DESPERATELY

We bring in Edzo anytime we need to secure a few lottery picks. He's a specialist.

He was probably the worst Pens coach I've ever seen. It's one thing to not win, which was unrealistic in a rebuild anyway, but there looked to be no structure or system whatsoever with him as coach. The contrast between what the team looked like under him and under Therrien was night and day. Again, not necessarily in winning/results, but it immediately jumped off the screen that they at least played with some semblance of structure with MT as coach.

Edzo was just a bizarre coaching hire, even back then, without hindsight. I think he'd be fine in some sort of communications role today, though. He's good with the media, etc. Just keep him away from the hockey stuff.

I think a guy like Edzo only comes in if Dubas says no. Lebrun said Edzo would be the person between Hockey Ops and Ownership but the whole fiasco in Toronto was about Dubas wanting a direct line to the board to make decisions quicker.
