Has anyone heard if the Islanders are planning to sign Indrasis and Bertrand? I feel like that should have happened by now

I think Staple said on twitter, he thought either would go back to there countries rather then play at Bridgeport.

These types of guys are only leaving a 100'000 plus apartment and car on the table if there's a 1-way contract coming.

Either Indrasis or Bertrand would likely sign for the league minimum and be willing to play in BPort on the one-wayer, but they have little reason to sign a 2-way contract here.

I would absolutely love to add those two, but like mentioned there is little incentive for them to come and play over here. They wouldn't be on the big club roster, thus, would they play for our minor league affiliate with limited chance of being called up?

Find it hard for them to come over. On that note, I give snow credit for at least getting them to come to the rookie scrimmage to get a better look.

Could MVS still make the team if he's heathy and has a strong year?

Yes but I think MVS is a longshot to make it, he would have increased his chances if he had a good camp this summer. It's not set in stone though that you have to play in the Summer camp to make the team in December

Feels a lot longer than 6-7 weeks, the Memorial Cup ended on May 31. MSV was able to play in the Memorial Cup so it could be jumping to conclusions it's something major.

Today on NHL Network starting at 10 AM, an Oshawa Generals marathon starting with their winning the OHL championship against Erie and the Generals three Memorial Cup games other than the final.

I'd rather he be healthy for the season than trying to push it in a camp that, personally, doesn't really matter for hin.

These are our most recent prospect ratings on HF (I know it's pretty arbitrary, but I'm sure we've all used Hockey's Future to for reference before.)\

This was the most recent set of ratings on HF for the Isles:

GOALTENDERS
1. Ilya Sorokin Europe 7.5 D
2. Linus Soderstrom Europe 7.5 D
3. Kent Simpson Pro 7.0 D
4. Eamon McAdam NCAA 7.0 D
5. Stephon Williams NCAA 6.5 D

CENTERS
1. Viktor Crus Rydberg Europe 7.0 D
2. Johan Sundstrom Pro 6.5 C
3. Alexandre Mallet Pro 6.5 C
4. Alan Quine Pro 6.5 D
5. Jason Clark Pro 6.5 D
6. Kyle Schempp NCAA 6.5 D
7. Lukas Sutter Pro 6.0 D

RIGHT WING
1. Josh Ho-Sang CHL 8.0 D
2. Sebastian Collberg Europe 7.0 D
3. Kirill Petrov Europe 7.0 D
4. Taylor Cammarata NCAA 7.0 D

LEFT WING
1. Michael Dal Colle CHL 8.0 C
2. John Persson Pro 6.5 C
3. Mike Halmo Pro 6.0 B
4. Ross Johnston Pro 6.0 D
5. Justin Vaive Pro 5.5 D

DEFENSEMEN
1. Griffin Reinhart Pro 8.0 C
2. Ryan Pulock Pro 8.0 C
3. Scott Mayfield Pro 7.0 C
4. Adam Pelech Pro 7.0 C
5. Jesse Graham Pro 6.5 C
6. Kyle Burroughs CHL 6.5 C
7. Kevin Czuczman Pro 6.5 C
8. Devon Toews NCAA 6.5 C
9. Robbie Russo NCAA 6.5 D
10. Doyle Somerby NCAA 6.0 D
11. Loic Leduc Pro 6.0 D
12. Jake Bischoff NCAA 6.0 D

My questions are who do you think the biggest risers and fallers will be when new ratings come out, what will/should they be given, and what do you think our new prospects will get?

Here are mine:

Riser: Stephon Williams (big time, 6.5 D but now many of us see him as a legitimate NHL goalie prospect.)

Faller: Taylor Cammarata (3rd rounder, but I had high hopes for him after seeing many players of such a small size excel in the NCAA. He'll only be a junior next season so still has time, but I'd be shocked if he ever sniffed the NHL.)

New guys:

Barzal: 8.0C - they give that to just about every top half 1st rounder.
Beavillier - 7.0B
Vande Sompel - 7.5D
Wotherspoon and Pilon - 7.0D
Andong Song - 6.0F
Petter Hansson - 6.5D

Does HF re-rank on a year to year basis? If so, Williams should def see a nice bump in his rating.

I think Barzal will be a 8.0C and Beauvillier is a bit harder. I think Beauvillier has the potential to be an awesome player but has more of a "long shot" to reach that high. I think he is a safe bet to develop into an NHL player though. I would give Beauvillier a 8.0d or a 7.5 C.

I think mayfield could see a bit of a rise as well. Should be interesting.

Do you see Ryan Pulock as a PP2 quarterback or does he watch from the bench this season. I don't see him as slippery as Vis was along the blueline but more of a grip it and rip it type. I think Okie stays on the point this year. Thoughts?

If he's on the bench I'll lose my god damn mind

If there's 1 area that he's NHL ready, it's without a doubt on the PP. Not only because of his Connon with heat seeking missiles that are most always targeted on net, but he has the experience of being. Point man and knows how to handle a PP.

No matter how much experience Puluck has at a certain position/role, that doesn't mean that he can just be plugged into that same role in the NHL. You hear coach after coach and prospect after prospect talk about how much "faster" things happen at the NHL and every single player has some sort of an adjustment process. Sometimes it's a few games, sometimes a few years, and sometimes it never comes together.

I absolutely love Pulock so not worried in the player he'll become, but I don't think you can just pencil him in day one as a PP specialist, much less a well-rounded d-man.

You need to give him that opportunity though. That is hands down the best part of his game, so why not utilize him? Give him 1st PP opportunities with Leddy and I guarantee he'll succeed. If he doesn't then let him develop more.

Agreed, we won't know if he can hack it unless he gets an opportunity. I hope we acquire another depth LD before the season starts to replace Strait, but I'm mostly ok with the current group. Snow has the assets (draft picks) again to solidify the group either during the season or the TDL if he needs to in case we need it.

Who's saying not to give him an opportunity? Give EVERYONE an opportunity. At camp everyone should have shot. If you play well...You stay. If you don't...Back to the minors.

My point was that just because Pulock, or any player, looked good in the minors, doesn't mean anything until they can prove it at the NHL level.

It's all about adjustments. Junior to AHL is a HUGE jump, and Pulock made the jump pretty easily as a 20 year old (was an AHL all star). The AHL to NHL is a big jump too, but I think he has the skills and smarts to do it.

It's not as if the Isles are asking Pulock to step into a top-4 role from the get go. 3rd pairing at ES and PP time isn't an insurmountable task for a player of his caliber and development trajectory.
