I think Russell is going to be one of those guys that eventually plays his way into a glue role. Slow, slow, slow but steady improvement.

Agree
Not to sure about him at the start but the guy just never stops working.
That's infectious

Well if you watched the whole game then you know that the SOG do not tell the whole story here.
TOP and scoring chances were decidedly in the Oilers favor after 2 periods.

There are no easy games in this League either. Too many people make the mistake of looking at the standings and thinking that some games should be an easy win....and if it isnt an easy win then that means the Oilers arent a very good team.
They are fooling themselves IMO.

This right here. Part of the reason why the shot clock was so decidedly in LAK’s favour was because they have a shoot first mentality when entering the zone whereas we attempt to set up
a high danger scoring opportunity.

This was so obvious on zone entries last night. LA would often just enter the zone and immediately fire puck on goal from the half wall and then crash the net hoping to create chaos. TMac has them doing this because outside of the 70s line there is no skill in their lineup.

The Kings volume shoot, Eakins would be so proud of them. Hopefully they can volume shoot their way past Calgary tonight.

Nurse at the line
Workin hard lookin fine
No tender in the net
Double clutches instead

Kings come back
Puck in our zone
Darnell now tired
Leavin his man alone

LA pressing hard
A strong push and shove
Games finally over
Puck in Miko's glove
It was clear he was trying to look for draisaitl. You people think he is stupid? He knows the scoring title is at risk. If he fired and scored, only mcdavid would get the point and none for draisaitl.

Nurse did exactly what he is supposed to do, feed draisaitl the puck. That is what the locker room wanted and that is the team mandate. Win that scoring title no matter what. The division title is a lock and so what if the kings got an extra point. It might be better if they got the extra point so they would get a lower chance at winning the draft lottery.

Gifting teams like the kings and canucks an extra point might be worth doing. They are division rivals and having them draft lower helps our future.

Exactly.
Couple that with the Oilers having extended puck possession in the LA zone (first 2 periods at least) and not shooting much at all and you end up with a lop sided shot discrepancy at the end of the game.
Chiasson had one shift in in the 3rd where he was right in the slot twice and he passed the puck off

This team needs to shoot more...a lot more.
