Its an absolute shame that the best player in the world is having his prime years wasted with a monkey coach. Shades of Dale Hunter coaching the Caps and wrecking prime years of Ovi.

Hunter was there for less than a season and they go to the second round of the playoffs, something they have accomplished once since. He hardly wrecked the prime years of Ovi.

Yeah, Oates was a disaster. Dale Hunter was not a bad coach at all...he beat the Bruins in the playoffs when they were a really good team.

Pens new headcoach once MJ gets fired. Our top line will stay together all season.

Malkin-Kessel-Crosby

You guys do realize Johnston's trying to get them to play a team game and not a loose game as they don't have the defense to make up for constant odd man rushes. He's basically adapting them to playing a Western Conference style of hockey. It won't be pretty for the first part of the season but it will likely pay off in the second half as players wear down and for the playoffs.

Yea, the Pens just cruised into the playoffs last year after a slow start.

With how bad the East is, if it starts clicking they will be able to cruise in the second half. No joke.

I now know why Rutherford lottery protected the pick he sent to the Leafs. I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they make the playoffs.

I don't know who else is cheering for you guys but Leaf fans sure are.

Totally.

But again, most Pens fans would rather blindly criticize coach than consider the team he has to work with.

Yea he's the worst coach in the NHL at the moment, he's completely destroyed that offence.

Also would like to point out that the Penguins have been one of the lowest scoring teams since around the second half of last season, so this hasn't just started this year

Yes, we should not criticize MJ for turning a team with 4 of the best offensive players at their positions into a defense-only team that can't score to save their lives. Yes, totally.

MJ isn't running this system to get the Pens ready for the playoffs. He's running this system because our D blows and he'd rather lose games 3-1 than potentially lose them 5-4. He's playing to cover the weaknesses, not playing to their strengths. It's mind numbingly stupid.

So they could 'try' (the poor defense would still hold the forwards back) and play run-and-gun, and still lose.

Or they might win while playing a run and gun system. You're making a completely baseless argument that they'd still be losing in a run and gun system, which is laughable. There are like 3 teams in the NHL that I think can match up with the Pens in a run and gun game.

where is illpucks, I think he disagrees

Nah, Mike Johnston should win it.

His system is very effective and causing fits for other teams that try to play against it.

That solid team Therrien built couldn't beat Johnston's system even in a run and gun format.
