So obviously nothing is ever cut and dry and there might be things like family or whatever that changes things.. However I think there is a mutual fit here that I struggle to find elsewhere in the league.

Team:

- Decimated Dcore over the past few seasons, looking to improve there badly
- Need a RD puck moving guy who can play on the PP. Buff was there but is now gone. Same with Trouba.
- Need for RD in general.
- Buckets of cap space due to the Buff thing.

Player:

- Likely wants to go to a team that can contend. I doubt there is a team as good as Boston who can afford a guy like Krug. If the player can be convinced there is a cup contending team there, but they see him as the missing piece, I think it makes sense.

- Adding onto that, he see's a team who went deep recently, has one of the top forward groups in the league, a goalie coming off a Vezina quality season with clout, and a good vet leadership group. All the pieces are there to go on a run if the defense can be improved.

- He gets the best of both worlds. Joins a team he believes will be in the playoffs each season and can go deep, while also being able to cash in and get paid his money.

Obviously assuming he leaves the Bruins as is speculated due to the cap.

Dude you do realize that Torey Krug is a LHD, Not RHD. Besides it was already reported that all Canadian teams were on his no trade list. So i doubt Krug has any interest in playing in Canada. He's probably heading home to Detroit if he doesn't resign with Boston. He'd make a nice pairing partner with Moritz Seider on the 2nd pairing there. Especially once we get Lafreniere at the draft and Boston wins the cup and Krug comes home to Motown.

Detroit fans are all so sure that Krug will be ecstatic to sign with the worst team in the league. Yeah that's his homeotwn but going from the best team in the league to the worst the NHL has seen in decades isn't the kind of shift these ultra competitive professionak athletes usually take.

Not saying it won't happen, but Detroit isn't exactly a hotspot rn. Doubt he goes to Winnipeg either tho.

Better change the title right now to ''Is there a better fit for Krug than Montréal?''

He would slot in from the get go in the top-4 along Petry or Weber
Habs have cap space to afford it
He fill a need on the powerplay
His small size doesnt matter because Habs D is pretty big

Chiarot - Weber
Krug - Petry
Romanov - Juulsen
Mete / Kulak

There's no certainty, other than that Detroit should be highly motivated to sign him.

You make it sound like we're pulling the classic Toronto, "Of course he wants to come back here."

Right because Detroit always going to be the worst in the league, That's a pretty ignorant statement. Detroit has tons of talent coming up plus we could be in line to draft Alexis Lafreniere if the NHL decides to go back to the old draft format for the draft this year. Krug would definitely consider coming home he's always dreamed of playing for them plus the Blashill connection plus money talks Detroit can easily out spend anyone for his services if money is what he's seeking.

probably but Montreal is a lot closer to contention with him than Detroit
How do you know? Depends whom Detroit adds, If we draft Lafreniere sign one of Holtby/Lehner plus sign Krug maybe another top 6 winger like Mike Hoffman than Detroit is every bit as competitive as Montreal. You honestly think you're winning with Price as your netminder don't think so.

you added 3 players you aren't sure to get plus krug to get as competitive as Montreal. Montreal would make the playoffs adding only Krug.

Price is really getting underestimated, he's garbage for 2-3 months and the best in the league the rest of the year every season for the last 3 years. Look at his october to december stats they are martin jones level bad than january to april are insane .930 level. He finishes the year at .910 because he starts so slow. The playoffs are in april, I don't think any habs fan would have any doubts with Price in april.

Why would Detroit spend millions to add a winger if they got Lafreniere?

We'd have Lafreniere, Zadina, Mantha, Bertuzzi, and Fabbri. We still have to s*** or get off the pot with Svechnikov. And there's a belief among many that Rasmussen is gonna fit in the NHL better as a winger than a center.

The best fit is Montreal on the 1st pairing along side Weber!

With Weber on the back end super responsible defensively would let Krug let lose offensively.

For a player who wants to play hockey, he would get plenty of playing time. 1st PP, PK, late game situations etc...

Just saying that there's talk of Yzerman adding a top 6 winger, But that's only if we strike out on Lafreniere.
