Is John Gibson the current Vezina favourite?

He seems to keep getting better. This year in 3 games he's led the Ducks (!) to 3 straight wins, giving up a total of 3 goals and .970 save %. He's never even been a Vezina finalist before but this could be the year. Lack of wins could potentially hurt him though.

I know he's played a third of the games that Gibson has so it's a small sample size, but Halak's 1.000 save percentage is promising. Yes, it will normalize to the .98's in time, but he's been great so far.

Might be a small sample size, but if we were actively betting on the trophy winners, I think many would pick Gibson for the Vezina and not those other guys. Hence "favourite".

If Gibson is a favorite, it's not so much due to the 3 games he's played so far (which are incredible, yes), but more because of his consistently strong goaltending stats over the past 3+ seasons.

To this point he's been snubbed from Vezina votes (not saying he should have won, specifically), but many of the stats people out there know his numbers are Vezina worthy.

I've always considered Gibson a goalie that would inevitably win a Vezina in his career. Could it be this year? Sure, why not. Especially if he can drag his team into the playoffs.

What's going to happen when the Oilers play the ducks? Gibson only allows one goal per game, but neal scores 2 per game. Do they just cancel the season to avoid the time space being torn apart?

I think it's reasonable to say Gibson is Vezina-caliber. But, durability and team play albeit affect the results. It's like the MVP argument (if they didn't play for team X, how would team X fair) works against Goalies for whatever reason.
