1. He lives in Sweden, not Toronto. That's a 6+ hour flight, just in case you don't know how far away the country is from Toronto.

2. It was reported he missed opening night because of child birth, but that was corrected. The real reason was a family illness. He missed the game today because his wife is close to having a baby.

3. Kaberle also missed today's festivities because he was attending a funeral in the Czech Republic (which, by the way, is even further away from Toronto than Sweden is).


So yeah. Life gets in the way. Do you really expect Sundin to tell his wife to bugger off while he goes to play shinny halfway across the world?

A long time ago. And yes we deserve to be made fun of for that banner. That **** was ridiculous haha

Pretty sure he lives in Sweden fulltime now. He usually has a good excuse, but it really does suck that he's missed so many big events.

It's a hassle to fly that far, but some people will do it. The Oilers fly in Kurri every time they have an event and he always shows up.

If Sundin doesn't want to that's his business but I can't blame the fans for being disappointed either.
