Oilers should have cashed in Yak for a late 1st/pair of 2nds, kept their Reinhart picks and just drafted as many mobile defensemen as they could. Imagine having Chabot, Roy, Carlo, Meloche, Lauzon, Kylington all coming up on ELCs. They'd be in a Ducks-like position of infinite young impact defensemen.
Chiarelli has a lot of bias towards slow/gritty/veteran players which I don't see serving the Oilers well. Reinhart and Lucic mesh with the rest like oil and water, Larsson fills a niche but Hall is a tremendous overpayment and the team will have a harder time driving the play forward without him. Shades of Seguin-Eriksson there (Larsson is a younger D vs Eriksson being an older F but they kind of play the same kind of hockey relative to the other pieces if it makes sense).
