Yeah but Paul Coffey said Marc Stahl sux and so did Ray Bourque. Then on the other hand Larry Robinson likes him a lot. Bobby Orr is non-commital on the topic....

I dunno who to believe anymore!?!?!
So listening to a Norris winner is bad?

Lmao which part?

Yes buying out Girardi was the right move. I can assure you, without being in the room, the Rangers did their due diligence in finding a trade partner for G, coupled with his NMC.

Girardi would not have helped and only hurt Skjei. And i love G, but that is the direction of his career. What he has done in TB is irrelevant because of the group they have there. Coburn has been able to extend his career there with that group.

Gorton has done a great job flipping this upside down in a short period of time. It was the right move(s).

And this coming from a huge supporter of signing Panarin

Oh nvm didnt understand what u meant Thought you meant they traded him.

Now I realize you are assuming they tried to find a trade partner. I'm sure they did try btw. The way that is written though I was like "Ummm he was bought out, not traded"

A Norris winner told me to build a rocket using scotch tape. He won a Norris so he must be right on everything, ever.

A Norris winner told me exactly who my draft picks should be for the next 3 NHL drafts. He won a Norris so he can't be wrong about any aspect of hockey, ever. In fact...why is this guy not my team's GM? With him tucked under my arm I could easily get an owner to give me their team so we can bring the franchise to the next 10 stanley cups before getting bored and moving on to instellar space travel again...I cede all control and autonomy to my Norris winner God

Skjei should have learned the game playing on the bottom pairing with Girardi. Girardis legs were gone, I agree, but he could have learned Skjei alot about defending. Staal and McDonagh was there to play on the top two pairs. Sadly Gorton signed two defenders in Smith and Shattenkirk who for the most parts were 3rd pairing guys on their previous teams. Shattenkirk was a PP specialist, but played behind Pietrangelo and Parayko. Gorton messed up the rebulid/retool on the fly with those moves. That he did not see that neither of those two could play on the top pairing with McDonagh is beyond excuses. Maybe I am harsh and overplaying it, but I have no trust in Gorton after that.

You have no faith because 2 moves haven’t worked out but a bunch of others have?

I think they were crucial. And they were the moves that forced the full rebuild. (They cost 11 million on the cap. Plus Girardi`s byout.) And I strongly believe that people who make them should be accountable. Sather and Gorton was probably to close. And the owner not on hands.

The owner was reportedly the one who called for the rebuild

Then he should have fired Gorton before they started. Maybe I am old fashioned but I strongly believe that is the way to do it.

Let me put it this way: Gorton praised Quinn for holding/making the players accountable. Why should it be different for the coaches/staff?

Or you just refuse to see where you're wrong and are doubling down on an opinion that seems to be based on only lending weight to a small amount of details that support it. All while ignoring the vast array of details that dont
