Is Giroux's Captaincy the Problem?

A good captain gets in the net to make the saves his team needs when they need them. He rips the clipboard out of the coach's hands to make sure the best possible line-up is out there. He pounds on the GM's door and glares at him to make sure the right moves are being made to ice a competitive team.
So Chris Pronger then?

Giroux's on ice performances has limited value as far as being an effective captain, a scrub wouldn't be listened to, but simply scoring points doesn't make him a leader.
His work ethic and high level of compete, combined with his production, makes him a leader.
Now, if he's not the most demonstrative guy in the world, you might want a "louder" alternative to play "bad cop" in the dressing room.

It's a tough subject given how little access we have to things behind the scenes, but given what we have I can't see any way in which he's not a positive force in that capacity.

The only thing that could possibly make his captaincy an issue is if he truly is the reason this team keeps getting these terrible EDM/dubstep type goalhorns, as has been implied in the past.

One of the biggest things Flyers really need to correct by next season: finding their "Gloria" or "Brass Bonanza". They need a definitive goal song. This really should not be an issue either, if the marketing team that came up with Gritty has a hand in this decision.

He has other 12 game stretches on the playoffs where he was over 1.5ppg would that make him one of the greatest captains in NHL history during those times?

Who do you think is the right captain for this team? What tangible effects do you think we would see on the ice if this player were made captain? How would that player make these changes happen?

@BryzyInPhilly still waiting for your answers to these questions.

What the f***???

Did Giroux hire Hakstol and keep him around for way too long?
Did Giroux mishandle the goaltending situation for the last few seasons?
Did Giroux sign and continually use players like Amac, Vandevelde, Folin, Knight, Varone etc..?
Did Giroux miss the boat on trading Simmonds 2 years ago when he had real value?
Did Giroux coach the pp this season?
Did Giroux coach the pk the last half decade?

The premise of this thread is asinine.

Aww, man, I missed this. Stupid internet. The answer is YES, of course - it's the only explanation that makes sense.
