Celebrity comes with many rewards.....and sacrifices. And while I don't disagree with you, I think this is ultimately (and unfortunately) one of those sacrifices (the privacy). There is always someone who is going to have loose lips looking to tell a story even if it isn't theirs to tell if there is someone who wants to hear it.

This is where I come down on this issue.

Yes, it’s good of him to admit the mistake and correct the record.

But say he wasn’t wrong. Is it really OK to be the guy who reports on players’ confidential rehab stints? Is that really the guy he wants to be in the media, the influence he wants to have on the league? To be the reason guys think twice about admitting they have a problem?

IMO, he needs to be apologizing not just for being wrong, but for having leaked that sort of report at all.
