Well he was -3 tonight against the worst team in the league so he'll probably be extra motivated to put that behind him next game. lol

A lot of younger and fresher talent has taken over the league it seems.

Is Sid The Kid still a top five player in the world right now?
It depends.

I’ll say that if I had to play a game 7 tonight for everything I hold valuable in this world, I don’t think there’s five players I take before taking Sid.

Skid the kid may not be a top 5 player on the Penguins let alone the league. He should really stop embarrassing himself and call it quits.

He's on pace for the 2nd highest goal scoring season of his career and the 6th highest point total of his career.

He's never been outstanding (except his 2nd season), but he's always around top 5 in the league.

For the moment yes he is because he was great as recently as 2 seasons ago. Track record matters. However, he wasn't even top 15 in hart voting last season. If he misses the top 10 again this season then he's not in the top 5 anymore.

The thing about Crosby is that he isn't just about goals and assists - he sets things up, sees things in other teams and tells his players to exploit it, etc.

As an addition to his team, he's #1 overall, hands down.

Focusing on the players involved a little more than the teams, you’ve got 10 teams getting a goal difference of +1.0 GD/60 or better with their first line on the ice. The players serving as first-line proxies on those 10 teams have tended to be Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Jack Eichel, Alex Ovechkin, John Tavares, Tyler Seguin, Mark Stone, Mark Scheifele, Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov. That’s a pretty good list of NHL superstar forwards. Stone is the most stunning inclusion on this list to me ; when he’s not on the ice, the Senators are a pretty horrific team.

When Crosby’s on the ice for an on-the-fly shift, he’s 29th amongst NHL forwards in Corsi% (58.2 per cent) and first in GD/60 (+5.1 GD/60). His line is killing it.

Well, despite Pittsburgh’s struggles, Crosby’s still an absolute monster.

So uh...to answer the question...

Yes.

Pretty much this.

And that's what is the most important thing when it comes down to it.

He isn't top 5 in fantasy circles anymore, heck he probably isn't top 20, but his legacy will continue to grow so long as he is one of the first choices for a player in a 7 game series.

It seems old data, with 3 zeros last three games, Crosby is now # 17 among forwards
