You know who is "due for a Norris" this season?

Kris Letang.

Yeah. If we're talking the "lifetime achievement" aspect of the Norris, Letang is definitely "due" for one. He's missed a lot of time, but when he's healthy and playing...he's been the anchor of the Penguins dynasty blueline forever, and legitimately good at both ends of the ice.

Missing that one Penguins Cup run is really the nail in his coffin as a Norris candidate though. It was a lot of things all going perfectly at just the right time...but unfortunately, it makes it look like he's not that important a component in their success recipe.

Letang has his good stretches, but he has also been the Pens' defensive Achilles heel at times, too.

So he would have to stay healthy and have one of those long solid defensive stretches to win it. Which isn't impossible at all.

2 points behind Burns for most points by any defenseman since the beginning of 2017/18.

21 points ahead of third place(Rielly).

If Carlson keeps this pace up for the rest of the season, I think he's probably a pretty safe bet for the Norris.
