oh God enough with this already. we have plenty of heart. SKILL is what we need.

As long as Coach Deboer is coaching, we're not gonna have skill on the team. They will be in Albany.

Besides, since Parise has gone, we lack a tenacious garbage goal scorer that can finish with Jagr and Zajac. I think Brian would fit perfectly on that line.

Much like Lemaire states he coaches to the abilities of the players he's given. It's amazing when PDB had depth, he took the team to the Finals.

He would.

Problem is, that should be our second line and not our first.

Surprised there's no "Devils have reached out to Brian Gionta camp" news yet.

not the answer. this team needs "young" legs up front bringing gionta back is a perpetuation of the issues this team already has.

thanks but no thanks

Which "young legs" are available?

probably nothing good but it doesn't mean sign someone because they are available

we have a ton of guys that were signed that are not helping the team. I would rather suck and rebuild with our young defense than sign an aging forward because that was best available option

I'd rather do nothing then sign old retreads.

So you'd do nothing....*then* you sign old retreads? :sarcasm:

I know I'm just messing with you for the spelling but I agree. I'm tired of the Devils basically picking players off the scrap heap and trying to sell us on how they're still effective....uh-huh. :help:

Ok, no retreads play youngster and rush them and read how Lou ruined them by rushing them too fast.

do you guys HONESTLY think that if Boucher and Gionta both played full seasons in NJ, that they would have that much different stat lines?

nah youre right, keep giving old men multi-year deals every offseason. thats the best way to build for the future.

You are right, I would much rather watch Clarke, Whitney and empty Albany and just round out the Devils forward roster than see an attempt to get some scoring up front until picks like Boucher and Matteau pan out.

Which old men get tendered this year? I mean really last year, they added Brunner, Clowe and Ryder and Jagr upfront. Brunner is an interesting project and Ryder went colg, Clowe was at a nice pace and showed chemistry with Henrique. OLD MAN Jagr disappointed and so did Elias. Lou should of just tanked last season like Hinkle in Philly.

I think the roster could use both as the team is constituted today. They need goals up front.

play 1 or 2 of the young guys over signing Brian Gionta definitely means I want to "empty Albany," you got me

Two different positions. The better question is, would Boucher been rushed and ruined as I see alot of people moaning around about other prospects because gap players weren't signed up front in a timely fashion.

gap players weren't signed in a timely fashion? what? aside from a handful of forwards, ALL WE HAVE ARE GAP PLAYERS

I think Gionta would have more. Now that's mostly because DeBoer would play Boucher on the 4th line for the most part. Kinda like when he had a nice assist out on a broken line change early in the game with Henrique. He was kept on the 4th and Space Junk Bernier played in that spot for the rest of the game. :shakehead

I'm saying in general, you keep citing old guys/ufa signings and hindering the Devils future. Empty Albany, watch the suckage and learning curve from players like Whitney and others. Than when guys like Matteau and Boucher as well as Josefson don't progress as they should, we can read about they didn't develop properly.

Steve Bernier era must come to an end, he showed some promise during the cup run and the lockout season. Only one I want back is Carter from the fourth line.
