Is Brian Gionta destined to return?

If they shipped out Ryder for a 3rd round pick and signed Gionta for 2 years 7 million I would be happy with that. Very much so.

I'd rather keep Ryder. Despite all his flaws, Ryder can at least score. We need scoring.

Honestly at this point in their careers Ryder/Gionta's pretty much a wash. I'd take Gio senior for heart and shootout use at this point, but I do think Ryder has another big season in him at least, probably won't be here though. He clearly doesn't fit.

Ryder is only one year younger than Gionta. Gionta was born in 79, Ryder was born in 80.

both had 18 goals last season so that is a wash

but yeah……ship out ryder…. id be happy with gio instead on a one year term……we can all relive the days where he thinks he's lafleur ripping shot into the net off the right wing…or more likely into the chest of the opponent …HAHAH

and get rid of brunner already lou! useless weak garbage.

the day i look back and tell stories to people of "the great brunner era" ya right…. never wanted anything to do with this guy in the beginning. **** him.

ok ill stop this is the gio 2.0 thread after all

Talk about accepting mediocrity, yuck. Enough with the retreads.

yeah it sucks "accepting" …..it's not ideal by any means …..i dont want gio back as it does nothing to further the progress of the franchise… but the lesser of to ***** is having him instead of ryder.

and thats pretty ****ing sad when you think about it.

The problem is that no one else that isn't a retread wants to come here at this time. :dunno:

Meanwhile, we're looking desperately to try and improve the OFFENSE of this team. So far, I haven't seen anything aside from, at the very least, keeping Jagr around(oh and Zids being re-signed for another year).

And before anyone brings up Cakes, has there been *any* word on if he was signed or not? geez....

Anyway, as far as Brian goes, I'm going to take Zajacs-Bowl-Cut's position here and say that if the Devils get rid of Ryder somehow, and they THEN(afterward) sign Brian to a 2-year 7 million dollar contract, I'd be pretty damn pleased.

would rather sign no one than retread old men.

Yeah but didn't you say something about trading Ryder for a 3rd round pick(or something to that effect) and signing Brian to that aforementioned 2-yr/7mil deal, and how you'd be pretty happy about it?

I swear I saw you post that....I looked all over and I can't find it now. Maybe I'm going crazy...

yes, Ryder doesn't fit on this team but I think he still has some value.

signing Brian to the same deal Ryder has just prolongs the crap another year.

renlavoietva: Talks still ongoing with Habs and Brian Gionta. Thought that Mike Weaver and the Habs was a formality but it's not the case. Still time.

I would want Brian Gionta back only because he always plays with heart. Bring him back and make him captain. Instill a little heart in the rest of the team.
