Eriksson's contract is in a class of its own....$6m a seasson for a third-line checker and penalty killer. But I have a feeling by the end of year two, the Beagle contract might actually be on par....suspect the injuries will start to kick in by then and there'll still be two years left.

Yeah, not close at all.Beagle is a character guy who plays hard, wins battles, and sets an example on how to be a good pro
Eriksson floats through games and sorta plays ok defensively but is basically just roster filler at 6M/yr.

Brandon Sutter's contract flies under the radar for whatever reason, man is that one just putrid.

Sutter was signed to an unprecedented contract, he was the highest paid forward in NHL history to never score more than 40 points in a season.

He's been here for 4 seasons, had one decent year scoring most of his points in garbage time, which ultimately hurt the teams tank. Has been putrid this season and is trending towards being a Ryan Kesler type of player that has totally fallen off a cliff.

The idea that this organization is paying junk like Eriksson. Sutter, Gudbranson, Gagner and Granlund ~20 million a year is just mind boggling. They could replace these guys with Gaudette, McKewen, Biega, Gaunce and Archibald and probably get better at ice hockey.

Just disgusting.

Lol, not even close. Both on the 4th line, arguably equally effective, Eriksson contract 6x6, full of bonus money so it can't be bought out, NMC/NTC so he can't be traded.
The bonus money is probably the most restrictive of all the components.

Beagle's contract is awful, but Eriksson's is one of the worst in the league.
Gagner's contract surely bears some consideration for one of the Canucks worst contract signings. One lackluster season in VanCity, followed by exile to the AHL. And unless the Canucks buy him out, he'll finish out the third year of his contract in the minors at $3m per.

Its closer then you would initially think.

Eriksson is worse still. But Beagle is overpaid in both money & term by 33%. That is not great today, and his play will dip and will make it worse in the future.

Is there a source about that 40 point metric? That is actually amazing LOL

Beagle's contract is half of Louie's contract and Beagle is not worth 0. Unless you think Eriksson is worth more than $3m then Eriksson's contract is easily worse.

I like Jay Beagle, he's the bottom six team leader this team has been in search of for years. I think he's overpaid and his effort level will probably wain over time but I appreciate the job he does.

Eriksson just exists, although even that is questionable at times.
yeah man and poor mans Malhotra.

Here are is an interesting fact: Eriksson has been with us 2 and a half seasons now and he has just matched his goal total his last year with Boston that we paid a premium for. Oh and we also gave him a buyout proof contract.

That is definitely one of the worst contracts in the league and we have him for another 3 years after this one. Beagle is overpaid, especially in term but nothing like this.

I think it's closer than what people might assume. Beagle is trash. Him and Schaller have the exact same statline for 5-on-5 hockey this season: 5 assists. Only Sutter is worse than those two. Eriksson at least has had a couple of games where he's been pretty good and scored a few goals too. Has better points/60 than Baertschi. On the PK Eriksson's numbers are a lot better than Beagle's too.

I'd still give the edge to Beagle because Eriksson makes double the money, but it's a lot closer than you might first think.
