The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenseman Ben Chiarot (500k retained) to the Carolina Hurricanes for goaltender James Reimer.

Minor trade based on needs there. Chiarot wasn’t in our top 6 while we were looking for a backup. Reimer salary is high but his contract is expiring at the end of the season. He is also an upgrade on every backup Price had since Jaroslav Halak.
