The Montreal Canadiens have traded future considerations to the Vancouver Canucks for forward Brandon Sutter and defenseman Jett Woo.

We are thrilled to add Woo to our prospect pool. He was on our first round list at the 2018 draft and we really like the progression he had since then. We take on Sutter salary but only for one year so adding a top prospect for some dead cap space was a no brainer to us.

 

What a great day in Carolina. We are pleased to welcome Taylor Hall and Braden Holtby. We hope these players will help us create next winning dynasty.

We are happy with our offseason. Obviously, the biggest move was finally adding a top UFA in Chris Kreider who will complement our forwards group really well for years to come. We have a young talented team who is making place this year for Caufield, Brook and Romanov. Our prospect pool isn't hurt by this considering the acquisitions of Vasili Podkolzin (trade deadline) and Jett Woo, and the selections of Dylan Holloway and Noel Gunler. The future is bright in Montreal and our goal is to be back in the playoffs this season.

We added an entire top pairing of superstar D-man Pietrangelo and future superstar D-man in Quinn Hughes, without giving up any major pieces. Zadina, Veleno, Seider, and other promising young players have made the roster and are pointing to a bright future. We also added Cole Perfetti through the draft who can become a top line center to create a strong one-two punch with Larkin.

Overall, we are quite happy with how this team worked out.

 

How the hell did you get Quinn Hughes and how the hell did I miss it?

 

He took the contract of Jay Beagle and gave Tyler Bertuzzi. One of the biggest steal of the game IMO!

 

Thats nuts. Wouldn’t a Beagle buyout be like 1M for 4 years?

 

I have other plans with my compliance buyouts.

New Jersey confirms. New Jersey has traded Severson, and signed Roman Josi to a 7 year contract worth $8M/year with a LNTC. Full roster to follow.

The Devils lose Hall, but sign a solid replacement in Dadonov and have made an enormous improvement of the team on the blueline with Josi and Lindholm. Hopefully, this solves the team’s biggest problem.

Oh, we’re firing Hynes and his entire staff and replacing them. Not sure with who yet, but we’re hiring Scott Stevens to come back and coach the defense for sure.

 

Why? Is there no buyout? Teams get one per season in the NHL.

 

No they don’t. You can buy people out but you get the cap hit still. It’s not a compliance buy out.
