Just dump Cliche to SA like an old fridge at the roadside.

If they didn't do it for two years they aren't going to do it now.

I agree the forwards are pretty much set. The wild cards are O'Reilly obviously and if Winchester can continue or not, if not they will need to LTIR him and bring in someone new. I guess Everberg's spot is in the air until he can come back, not that they'd sign someone to replace him though. Probably just shuffle AHL players.

I suppose, but they are open to moving him to the pressbox so ultimately it may come down to Winchester.

I'd venture to guess that the Avs will bring in one forward this summer to compete for a 3rd line spot, but mostly as insurance since McGinn, Winchester, Bordy, and Everberg will all be coming off injuries. If a forward gets shipped out, I would expect 2 to be brought in.

You can bank on Cliche and Guenin being on the NHL roster. Why would they now get sent down after playing 2 years for us? What we can hope for however is them being pushed out of the lineup to the press box. I'm pretty sure Roy and Sakic know they can scratch them without harming development. Here's to hoping that happens. Maybe one solid FA forward signing and one, maybe two D signings.

All indications are that they were prepared to, at the very least, make him the 13th forward this season with Winchester's signing. I don't think Cliche's spot is something that should be considered "safe" by any means.

Pretty much this. I can believe every intention is to put them in the pressbox more often than not but to San Antonio, I think not.

What about Kyle Brodziak? Good bottom 6 defensive forward, UFA this summer.

Speaking of, here's a new article with Everberg. The google translate is a bit rough so if anyone would like to give it a proper translation or summary I think that's better than me getting things wrong. I did get out of it that he said the 8 month recovery was incorrectly reported (thanks Frei!) and that he will be ready for camp and that he wouldn't have had the surgery if he was going to miss games.

Wouldn't shock me at all to see Cliche in the AHL next season. I get that he's played here the last 2 years, but 12th/13th forwards are not set in stone. If he gets beat in camp, simple, he'll get sent down.

Agreed.

If we don't make moves to push the likes of Guenin and Cliche out of the lineup we are not set on winning. As of now we have no depth to speak of, we can't bank on all of Winchester, McGinn, Everberg, Rendulic and Bordeleau to have great comeback seasons. At some point we have to add proven quality depth.

If other teams can bury/buyout much larger contracts we have to be ready to do the same thing with players that are (minor) contract mistakes.

I don't have time to translate it fully, but he says he'll be fine around August and is really aiming to building more muscle and becoming much stronger on the puck.

Swedish-English google translate translations are usually quite good.

Thanks. Yeah I usually can get the gist pretty good but this one with tense of things such as if he's talking about past or future was a little murkier.

Those guys all take up contract slots. I get that the idea is to bury them if need be but the AHL is for development not a banishment grounds for one and two we know how Roy operates, he's not going to wake up one day and send his soldiers down. When Cliche and Guenin's contracts are up after the year that's when better comes in, probably in the form of prospects. If y'all want to hold out hope that's cool but when Roy literally said "we signed Cliche to be the 13th forward" that's what he is, he's not getting sent to the AHL.

Everberg

"It was the Avs that wanted me to have the surgery, and I listened to them. My shoulder hasn't been fine since the last injury and since I wont be missing any games, I might as well do the surgery now"

Reporter writes that Everberg will be training with Andreas Larsson this summer, a skating specialist coach.

- I read somewhere that I would miss 8 months because of my shoulder. That's not the way at all. I will be fully recovered in august and our camp is in september. If I was running any risk of missing any games I wouldn't have gone through with the surgery.

The reporter then throws in a quote from Everberg about perhaps playing in the AHL from last summer, which I assume is confusing in google translate.

But then Dennis says.

"When you are right in the middle of things you try not to raise the expectations too much, but I'm pleased and have been playing a lot more than I thought I would be"

Why didn't you guys make the playoffs?

"We fell behind too much in the beginning and never caught back up, we played good the second half of the season but we had a lot of injuries. I think we set a record for man games lost or something"

Have you had the same role all season?

"I have been trying to find my own role to thrive in. I have learned what I should do to live up to that role fully"

What have you learned during the season?

"One big thing is being more careful with the puck, don't lose possession in the wrong places on the ice. Be patient and don't deke at the blue line, make the safe play instead"

"They didn't expect me to play 55 games and I'm pleased with what I delivered. They have said they want me to add some muscles, and I agree"

"I have gotten a taste of this (the NHL), learned a lot, looking forward to next season like crazy. I already feel very confident and I have gained a lot of expirence"

Awesome stuff. I like hearing all of this.
