If we can get Nurse for #20 and McLeod, there’s no way we don’t make it happen. The left side of our defence is garbage and Nurse would instantly be our best option. The fact that he already played with Severson and the pairing was the best pairing on team Canada at the Worlds a couple of years ago (with the defensive coach being Lindy Ruff, our now head coach) makes all the sense in the world. We also have one of the softest blueline of any team in the league and adding a big strong dman who can also skate like he’s 5’10" is another plus.

I know my fellow Devils aren’t warm to the idea of giving Nurse an AAV around 7M$ for his next deal but I don’t see it being an issue at all when looking at who’s coming off our books in 2 to 3 years from now. It’s like saying, would we trade Schneider for Nurse?

Anyways, if Nurse is available, the Devils need to be all over that.
