All these accolades for Sorokin are well deserved and getting me far more optimistic about this year than I should be. I’ll get over that within a game or two.

I agree that he’s a goalie that can get us a Cup. If the supporting cast were let’s say average then I’d be more optimistic. Our defense even with holes, is better than average once Pelech returns. Our forwards are frankly bottom tier in the league.

Giving up the farm for Meier improves us no doubt but we’re more than one player away. Even in the unlikely event that we get him, it would cost us dearly and then we’d truly have one of the worst prospect pools in the league. How would we take the next step at that point?

By the time the rebuild most seem to want is completed he will be in his mid 30s, which is a real crapshoot for goalies, especially the athletic ones. If we trade him to a contender now we could probably get some good picks/prospects, not to mention put us in the running for Bedard.

I'm confused how a 14 year old kid now to be known as Dark Horse Tommy is tied for 1st in goal contest while my 50 plus years of experience watching NHL has me languishing close to last.

Two last thoughts.

Maybe I should take the lad to a casino!

I put on another thread, the Mrs asked if I wanted coffee before. Chuckled at the events of early in the week. My son is a nice kid, he'd even fetch a cup for Mr.Smith just out of politeness

That’s about the number I was figuring he would get too.

The better Sorokin plays, the more likely this prices out a return by Varly.

What market is there for Varly? The only teams in the EC that are playoff bound that need a goalie are CAR and NJD - doubt NYI trade there.

Some teams in the West may, but that would be undermining the goaltending that has them in a playoff spot.
