If Yugoslavia still existed....what would the national team look like today?

I think they would make the semi's maybe the finals but going through one or 2 of Germany, France or Spain is a strech for that roster imo. Attack is decent midfield is good but defense is lacking. GK is above average.

Hopefully they wouldn't play in a 4-2-3-1. They'd be a top favorite but not the clear best team.

Oh and **** no to that back line as listed.

They would certainly do better than a USSR team

Konoplyanka - Dzyuba - Yarmolenko
Shennikov - Dzagoev - Mhkitaryan - Smolnikov
Khacheridi - Neustadter - M.Fernandes
Akinfeev

With Cheryshev, Kokorin, Smolov for the attack; Kovalenko, Zinchenko, Miranchuk, Golovin for the creative midfield; Shatov, Glushakov, Mamaev, Stepanenko, Ahmedov, Barinov as more b2b or defensive midfielders; and Rakitsky, Berezutski, Burda on the bench in defense.

Depending on how well they played together, they could certainly form a second tier favorite as well.

Zlatan would be on it

No, he wouldn't. He was born in 1981 wich means his parents didn't move to Sweden because of war but to seek a better life/job.
However...who knows, maybe he would come back...during Yugoslavia there was a secret police agency, something like STASI in east Germany who might persuade him to return....but that is a part of history everyone would like to forget I'm sure.

Outside of Croatia, the other former Yugoslav teams aren't in great shape. It would be more or less just them with Handanovic in goal.

You could also throw in players from Lombardy and Venetia (part of Austria 1815-60 and 1815-1866 respectively).

You can find better in Scandi, this team is affected by heavy Swedish bias.
