I'll happily take it in the form of him promising not to indulge in wild speculation about injuries in the future.

I don't think I'll track the icings again next season. It's not that much work and it has been kind of interesting, but it seems like the dmen all do it at about the same rate (apart from Luke Schenn) so there's not much insight to be gained. And I don't understand why the official Play by Plays don't just say who iced the puck after "ICING". It seems really lazy.

Thanks for tracking this. Like you said, strange that it just says "icing" in the play-by-play.

As for the "wild speculation" about injuries - I wrote the Flyers rushed Steve Mason back after the first injury. Two more injuries later, after he did just about exactly what I cautioned against (meniscus tear), I'm surprised you still feel the same way.

One thing people probably miss with writing is that sometimes that seemingly "wild" speculation is what I prefer to call "well-informed" speculation - with information coming from various sources and people around the team, without putting their name or "source" on it.

Either way, I respect your view / opinion.

I enjoy reading this forum. IMO it is one of the best ways to grab the pulse of the fan-base. Obviously, judging by my username, I've been around here for a loooong time - just haven't posted in forever.

All the best,
Frank Seravalli

Specifically, it was when you speculated that Grossmann had a concussion (when he clearly hurt his right shoulder) and when you claimed that Mason was at risk of tearing his groin muscle completely off the bone.

The icing by Schultz with just over a minute in the 3rd is everything that is wrong with this D. Just zero ability to skate or pass the puck.
