A Dahlen-level prospect, or a 2nd is likely what Dorion wants. Seeing as he traded Dahlen for Burrows, he will probably give Vole away for future considerations. Idiot.

It sucks that you're not allowed to retain money and trade players back to teams, as in the Senators couldn't retain money on Cole and send him back to the Penguins. I'd love to get him back, I'm disappointed that they traded him in the Brassard deal.

would actually be nice to keep him since we need a bottom 4 d-man imo

but hoping we go for a decent prospect instead of a pick

McKenzie literally said "it's believed that's what Ottawa would like to get back". That's McKenzie saying Ottawa wants a 3rd round pick for Cole.

I know that's what he seems to be saying, but you'd think Cole would be traded by now if the price were just a 3rd.

Imo, the Davidson trade today drove the price up a bit. We'll see what happens.

I don't see how that was an insulting offer at all.

I know Jenner has fallen on hard times, but he did score 30 goals in this league, plays a rugged game and is dripping with leadership qualities. Especially given some of the dysfunction we are hearing about in Ottawa he would be a big add in my opinion. Two very good young forwards in addition and a first. Seems like a pretty fair offer for Hoffman and Cole. I know people want a homerun but there is no reason to really believe that is coming. If the Blues or one of the other teams with a very deep farm doesn't come calling this offer could very well be the best one you get.

I like Hoffman a lot, great skater with a top 5 release in the league. However, the same reasons why he is available and never been truly embraced by Ottawa management and coaches are likely to impact his value league wide. He isn't a 200 foot player and goes through noticeable dips in his play. That isn't to say he doesn't have a ton of value, but just I don't think he is a kings ransom kind of player. I doubt he is moved for the return a lot of people keep throwing out.

Scoring 30 once doesn't mean jack, you can ask David Clarkson all about that and he had 30
Hoffman on a solid line (not being flipped and flopped in the lineup playing with the likes of Pyatt on one day and Duchene the next) would easily pot 30-40 goals. He has so many shots that go off the post that those numbers back the fact that he hasn't really hit those numbers yet. Although the offer provided wasn't bad per say. I think many teams could offer something better than Boone Jenner as the likely main piece coming back.
