Cole is great, definitely a fringe 4/5 guy, but he is a lot worse on the right side. The team that fits with him will have an inexperienced guy on the left side of their top 4, or an offensive RD who could use a stabilizer.

No the JVR trade would be with team X and then add those assets to what it would cost for Cole. You’re upgrading from Ian Cole using assets from a JVR trade. Now if Vancouver wants a first and a top prospect like Kapanen and a third for Tanev the Leafs can stomach that as the JVR deal softened the blow a bit.

Leafs need a top 4 defensive D. JVR is a luxury and not a need to me.

I'd venture to say that each top 6 team of all four divisions would find room for him for a 3rd round pick - therefore he'll go for a second + prospect. Unless of course it's an even bigger hockey trade involving some other Sens.

Probably between a second or third... or a meh prospect... there is a market for him and he was only traded cause he is a ufa and wasn't Sullivans favorite guy lol... they supposedly butted heads a bit... good physical player though
