great to see gauthier pushing himself up the pecking order as he should be. still preaching patience on him despite everything. he'll need two full ahl seasons before you even start to wonder about where he's going to fit or you run the risk of turning him into a plug. still good to see him on the scoresheet early on after a strong offseason and preseason.
as far as the fox against bean debate, firmly in the fox camp for me. the reason is that so many experts have listed his hockey sense and skating as the two biggest attributes he has to offer and those are the two that allow you to play anywhere even if the offense never comes through. bean has the better raw skillset, but fox has hockey sense in spades. i'll take a 60 grade hockey sense and 40 grade hockey skill over a 40 grade hockey sense and 70 grade hockey skill player to borrow the baseball ranking system of 80. we have a lot to be excited about with fox. fox and luke martin are really close friends so the signability concern is less prevalent. i think his issue was western canada. it's not uncommon.
