I'm gonna tell you a little story about a player I once knew in junior. We'll call him Dog.

Dog and his teammates were sitting in the dressing room following a game in which they lost. There were two "loners" on the team. An argument started in the room.

Dog said "I'm a first round pick. WTF are you?" A shoving match started between not only teammates, but siblings that had to be broken up by teammates.

That team had two co-captains. The arguing persisted when one of the captains told Dog to "shut his mouth and never to speak again unless he was told to speak."

Just then, the coach/GM walked into the room and pulled his captains into his office to find out what happened. The coach/GM tried desperately to trade Dog after that but was unsuccessful, although he thought he had a done deal.

That story was told to myself and my editor at the time on the condition we did not print the story. I have only told a few close people in confidence until now.

I knew then that with his attitude, he would never sign a second deal with the team that drafted him.

Hamilton played for the Icedogs for three-and-a-half seasons. During his time, he was teammates with future NHL players such as Ryan Strome, Andrew Shaw and Brett Ritchie. Hamilton was also teammates with his older brother Freddie, who was a fifth-round selection of the San Jose Sharks during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bruins?

I was talking about a player in junior.
So after being involved with drafting players like Kessel ,Seguin and Hamilton does this explain why Sweeney puts such a big emphasis on character? On our 2015 draft picks?

It’s so good when the Bruins have a player on the opposing team whom they can rally around in their hatred (like Burrows in 2011 and Cooke in 2013). That cheap hit on Heinen will only make that feeling stronger.

Every team is putting more emphasis on character. Yet, they still don't always get it right. Jesse Gabrielle is a player that falls into that. There is a story to be told there one day. We've seen where he ended up.

The thing is, by all accounts the Bruins (management) wanted Dougie to stay. The players may have felt differently. We'll never know. Why Dougie didn't want to stay, we'll probably never know that either. But I had that lousy feeling in my gut when they drafted him.

It seems that Dougie doesn't get on well with teammates all through his career. Management felt one way (curious to know why but those people have moved on so it's a moot point) but there were obvious issues in the room that created enough tension where he felt greener pastures would be better for him.

Turns out the old saw "a leopard never changes its spots" holds true here

Hopefully Chara writes a book one day.

Some of these kids are cocky and think their you know what doesn't stink. We see he has an aggressive side to him with his stick there- eventually, that's going to catch up to him and cost him and his team. To be honest, I would rather that it happens against any other team but the Bruins. He will get his eventually.

I do wish we could focus a little less on him- he's probably thriving on the attention, unlike Nash. I feel Nash was more embarrassed by it, but I think Dougie's enjoying the negative attention he's getting. Don't feed him.

On a separate note, Rod is waaaaaaay over his head as a coach. I’m totally against the “former great player gets big job in organization” movement and he’s a good example in my favor.

It seems like the Bruins are getting under his skin. He's taken some dumb penalties and at least one terrible cheap shot.

I don't think anyone would really care much about him being a former Bruin. He was here for three years and when he left I don't think it was that big of a deal. But he seems pretty rattled and it's fantastic.

And yet he has a team with no superstars, no goalie, etc. In the conference final. When I look at Carolina at times, when I look at their roster, I find it hard to believe they made the playoffs. Yet here they are. Now maybe the Bruins will finish the domination in Carolina, but I won't be shocked if we see a different
