Before you can even think about next year we have to look at what is being traded this year.
Definitely gone:
Dadonov for a mid pick likely 4th round, 3rd if we retain salary
Drouin for a low pick(4th/5th round), a team will look at depth for a run
Monahan 1st + 2nd/3rd + Prospect Retain Salary (Colorado, Minnesota)
Likely Gone:
Edmundson 1st + Prospect/2nd (Edmonton, TML, many others)
Hopefully gone:
Hoffman I think we are stuck with him for one more season but we might get a buyer
For the Right Deal
Dvorak: Only if Someone offers a first or more
Anderson: We all know this asking price is big
So for next draft it could be up to 4 firsts, 2-3 seconds, 2-3 thirds and half the 4th round(joking)
So now moving into next season. We likely offer WPG One of the firsts and a second for PMD but after this year it might take more. Who knows he may even want to stay put with the season and new coach.
We will have close to 28 million in cap space or more(10.5 in LTIR and 16.7 in cap space), PMD sign and trade would be close to 7.5X8 and Caufield will be 8x8. So that kills most of the "Cap Space free" but still have Price's LTIR. 5x4 type contract for one of the 28 year old D men. Then we still have 7ish million in space we can use as needed(Trade to contender for another Monahan type dump)
Cauflied Suzuki Dach
Slaf PMD Roy
Ylonen Dvorak Anderson
Armia Evans Galagher
Matheson Guhle
Harris Dumba/Severson Type
Xhekaj Savard
PS First Spin today..... I will take it
I really hope they don't, but they pretty much already did it last draft when they flipped NYI's 1st for Dach.
Ideally, I want them to take on more contracts one final year like they did with Monohan. Maybe trade Gallagher to a contender for an expiring contract for one last run until he retires the following year.
Gallagher is not going to retire, at best he will go on LTIR, but he is not giving up 24+ Million dollars.
