How to revamp Colorado?

Same deal I have been proposing for two years:

To Colorado
Kopitar at $2 million retained

To LA
Byram
Kadri
Compher

Colorado gets a ppg 2nd line center who takes all the key defensive shifts, reduces pressure on MacKinnon, and improves both the PP and PK while adding a two time Cup winner.

Kings get the dynamic puck moving LHD they badly need, a little grittier, and insulation for their developing centers. They also further cut the cord to their stale, stagnant core and allow their kids to take ownership of their team.

Everybody gets what they need, at a cost, and both organizations move towards their goals with a near wash on the cap (Colorado gains less than a million in space).
Hate having to give up Byram. Is there no way to exchange with Girard?

Vegas is also a good team. You don't make major changes just because you couldn't dominate the entire league. That's a great way to upset a winning formula for no reason. There's a lot of parity in this league. Any given year, there are probably 4-6 favorites, with no clear best team. The Avs and Vegas are both in that "favorites" group. If the Avs lose, all you can do is just throw the same team, with a few small tweaks, out there again and hope next year is your year.

The plan? Stay the course. Hopefully, make some depth moves at the deadline to put your over the top.

It's crazy to me that, as ridiculously talented and dangerous as the Avs already are, they still have the pieces to trade for a guy like Eichel or Jones if they really wanted to. Scary.

It's over. Fire sakic. Burn down ball arena. Arrest anyone wearing avs gear as enemy combatants.

Sell the team to China. That's the only way to win.

Two more years still with Mac making half of what McDavid does. So that’s a Cup this year, and two more.

Landy, Grub, Makar are combining for around $10 mill in base salary but with Makar's bonuses, that's closer to $12.5 mill as I believe $3.3 or something is the max an ELC would count against the cap.
Landy $7 mil, Grub $6 mill, Makar $7 mill are rough numbers for their next deals putting them at $20 mill there.

Have to make the most of the opporunity when you have it. Flat cap hurts them in terms of depth. Saad, likely still commands around $5 mill give or take depending on the type of team he signs with.

Avs need to be able to play better against heavier forechecking both offensively and defensively. Whether that's a coaching adjustment or having to bring in new players, that's something they need to figure out.
